I finally got around to getting one of these, and it is a sexy hunk of die-cast.
The figures are kind of a letdown, but I didn't buy it for them. And sure, working landing gear instead of peg-in landing gear would have been better. But yikes, this is just so nice, and the die-cast heft makes it seem like a steal at $45.

I do want a little ladder thing for boarding the cockpit, though.

Okay - so, a little of "Column A" (1/60 Compatible) and "Column B" (pseudo KO):

    1000003984.jpg

    1000003985.jpg

I had been stalking this thing across AliExpress for a few months, mostly chasing the OG color version (orange, red, yellow). But I was still working on my Authentic checklist, and that took priority for me over "other".

So I found a seller who not only had this in inventory, but also had a few other items that I'll detail in the appropriate KO-specific thread.

Overall, it's a snazzy adaptation. Many of you have probably seen or even handled this at some point, but for those who haven't:
    • The core frame is a reproduction of the Powered Suit design from modern Diaclone. Shoulders, legs, chassis. The reproduced standard arms/hands also come with it and they're changed out at the shoulder ball joint.
    • The Arms are new designs. Each side of the rocket is attached to the arm with a notched, hollow peg. I fear that may lead to failure at some point due to the quality of the materials.
    • The Arms/Rocket can be separated from the chassis to form - well - the rocket. The claw/struts have 2 positions (open/closed) but they'll hang out in between if you're delicate.
    • The wings/track tab in where the shoulder cannons would go. They each have a single peg.
    • The grey/track bridge parts have pegs that tab into a pistol which plugs into the center slot on the back (where the Raid Chamber peg goes or a Gyroceptor chassis).
    • There is a Yin/Yang design for the pistols. One has 2 tabs on either side, one has two slots (basically a hollow slot center.) The former doesn't appear to have any relevant purpose other than an alternative way to mount the grey/bridge track parts. They have slots opposite of the pegs.
    • There is a MICROSCOPIC barrel that attached to the back of the head. It needs to be unplugged to open the hatch completely. Doesn't appear to have any other attachment points on the chassis or tracks.
Nothing stellar about this. If it's inexpensive enough, picking it up for the novelty is quite fun. On my copy, all of the joints were solid and properly constructed and assembled (including pins,) but the arm/shoulder joints became VERY wiggly after just a few minutes of movement and posing. The legs were more resilient, much like a box fresh Authentic PS.

It also included an oversized Tank/head for Omega Supreme with a lift cover canopy as well as engineering to allow it to partially transform into a standing, stationary gun turret. The face was molded in so I placed it back in the box. It wasn't my aesthetic.

Additionally, it came with a generic, humanoid robot it labeled "Doctor" who looks like a hyprid between 50s sci-fi and a Star Wars Droid. Good articulation, but again, not my aesthetic; back in the box.

It cost me $23 with free shipping. I'd say it's worth that, but Id have felt buyers remorse if he had been any more costly.

I was just looking a listing of that yesterday, good to know it built pretty well. Thanks for the overview!

That robot that comes with it is based on a bit character from Omega Supremes spotlight episode, just a random autobot doctor.

It's been 5 years since I did a G1 rewatch (through to Zone) so I forgot that S2(?) episode.

I'm pleased with it. If I come across the Supreme colors instead of the Guardian colors at the same price, I'll likely pick it up as well.

The other hangup is that the suit is more gimmick in context than anything. I'm already struggling to imagine in it staging scenarios. Authentic Powered Suits have a much heavier and diverse loadout and more armament and weaponry options, even the PS-C and -D.

It's much better in context with the PS 202X series of suits, IMHO.

Seriously, this is out of this world. I've spent 15 minutes so far just feeling out at all the little details in this (the guardrail in the little hangar is a great touch, now you know this whole thing is OSHA compliant) and I keep finding new things to like about it. You knocked this out of the park!

Thanks much! Really proud of it. The best work I have done to date, I think.

Hopefully the next big project, converting a Black Zarak into the Waruder equivalent of GRB, goes as well, though its not gonna be to the scale of this one in terms of overall mods.

Meant to reply earlier, but with finishing GRBPLEX I forgot. Anyhow, I will need to check if its still on Ebay, but there is a photoetch kit of a sci fi boarding ladder. Think it was 15 bucks, 1/60 scale, meant for Gundams. I have one and want more. If you have any experience with photoetch, you may wanna consider these. 20231118_182600.jpg

EDIT: Found an expanded set of a ladder and platform! And cheap too. I should order some myself. 1/60 Etch Maintenance Ladder Platform AW-214sp for PG Model Military AirCraft | eBay

They're all over AliExpress too, with pricing varying slightly between dropshippers.

There is also a 3d printed set of boarding ladders and other equipment on Ebay for 40 bucks. Looks like it could be KOs of Fiete stuff. But I am pondering that too.

1/60 vs 1/72 is pretty close...

Yeah, some Zoids can fit Dianaut pilots. The Geno Saurer/Breaker can fit in its cockpit with a bit of modifying. That one Die-Cast Shield Liger can fit can sit two Dianauts. I'm still learning as I build these mechs.

It helps that some zoids, particularly the motorized ones, tend to have overly roomy cockpits for their pilots
