David Gilmour and Rick Wright on tour! And with Dick Perry, Sweet! Going to see them in Chicago. The only downside is that it was the most $*&%&^%ing money I have ever spent for a concert ticket! When Roger Waters was tour, the ticket price was pretty reasonable. Oh well.
I never got into Pink Floyd. I just can't stand their music for some reason. Not a knock at them, they are a talented bunch. I just never clicked with em.
I think you just have to hear the right stuff. some of it I can't stand--it feels like noise that makes my teeth hurt. but most of it is awesome. you just have to find someone with a collection to show you their different styles, or find a place online to preview different albums.
Pink Floyd has so many different sounds with so many different emotional tugs, it can be hard finding the good ones through all the wierd ones. I love Floyd but cant stand some of it. Thank god for cd's and the 'skip' option. Some of it makes me feel like I had some limbs blown off from a war and just depresses me in a wierd way, but the rest I'll always listen to. Darkside is one of my most played albums. Would love to see them in concert. Only seen videos and their lighting seems hypmotizing. Hav'nt really gotten into their newer stuff since Division Bell. Thinking about checking out they're latest.
Dark Side is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time...Easily fits into my all time top 5. Actually a good show to see is the Australian Pink Floyd show, a tribute band that David Gilmour himself enjoys, and they played for his 50th birthday party. My Dad and I saw them here in St. Louis this past Thanksgiving and it was one hell of an incredible show, sounded damn close to the real thing.
Well I like quite a few of the songs on The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon, but unlike other bands where I might not really like the song but still enjoy listening to it, I can't seem to stand listening to Pink Floyd songs that I don't really like.
Ooohh. must look up concert dates!!! Chicago isn't that far. I think my personal favorite is 'Wish you were here' and they have all of it in sequence on the Echoes album.
I love Floyd, as many of you may know because of previous sigs and such. FYI, Dave Gilmour's new solo album was released today, and it's great. I advise getting it
I think you mean the song "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", which is split into two parts on the Wish You Were Here album, but then yes, they put them together into one sequence on Echoes. They also did that on the live Pulse cd, but the last couple of movements are left out.
