I hope when they do G1 Skyquake they also remold the lower legs slightly to give it faux windows, since the original figure had the cockpit at the knees
I called as soon as I saw that mail, because I wasn't sure myself and the operator said yes, it is correct and they are coming that fast. Which I wasn't exactly prepared for, but Ok.
I mean yeah, they basically confirmed it yesterday when they said Needlenose's gimmick was pretty much the Predator gimmick, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mark ended up teasing it further on his behind the scenes post for Prime Skyquake. Which also means Needlenose will likely become one of the 4 jets down the road. I definitely think him & whoever they turn Needlenose into will probably be in whatever this year's equivalent to Velocitron is. I just hope I'll have an easier time getting them than I did with Galaxy Shuttle lol
I really feel like people need to stop expecting a G1 Skyquake out of this guy. He's clearly meant to be pulling double duty. It'd be like expecting Hasbro to retool Legacy Animated Prowl into a more-Animated Prowl. They gave Legacy Skyquake G1 Skyquake details all over him. Hasbro isn't going to replace those G1 Skyquake details with other G1 Skyquake details.
Damn nice, personally didn’t get Metalhawk but happy he’s coming in quick (and so far unintentionally beating leakers).
I admit I lost a little enthusiasm when I saw he was a remold, and his arms were so close to Cyclonus' But hey, I'm not getting any younger and it's probably the only Metalhawk I'll see that either (A) I won't be terrified to touch, or (B) is not a God awful overpriced convention exclusive. And he is my favorite Masterforce character so.. you know. I was just kind of counting on this month's Transformer funds to go hunting for Galaxy Shuttle at all the Walmarts I can get myself to.
The color is way off though - it's valid to expect some kind of G1 redeco (and MW Starscream redeco) down the road, at least.
I'm pretty sure they gave him G1 Skyquake details all over because they plan to repaint him into G1 Skyquake, not because this actual figure is meant to stand in as him. The colors are still pure Prime. I wouldn't expect a G1 repaint to have any new parts but the repaint seems like it has to happen eventually.
Yeah it's more likely they gave him the details of the G1 figure because they're intending on redecoing Skyquake into his G1 self at some point of time. The only new parts I could see him having are the shoulders, the head is likely gonna stay the same because it already has many features from the G1 head.
I'm excited to get Skyquake, but man I'm really looking forward and hoping they do a MW Starscream repaint.
I think the shoulders are an improvement on the original design and I don't think the jet mode would look very good without them, so I kind of hope they stay. Me too, I want to turn him into a CHUG ROTF Jetfire.
But why would they waste time doing Skyquake #2 Slightly Different Green when they have Machine Wars Starscream and King Atlas on deck?
It's not a 'slightly different green' lol, it's turquoise instead of olive green, blinding pink instead of red, black and copper instead of gunmetal grey, and clear lime green instead of clear orange. I don't think anyone who's a fan of that era of G1 or just likes goofy colored Decepticons would consider that a 'waste of time'. But I definitely do hope doing that doesn't mean they skip out of MW Starscream, he's the one I care about more.
I've been waiting for a jet that abandons the realistic aesthetic in favor of having no kibble while still being aerodynamic. There it is, otherwise you're always going to have a robot undercarriage.
Despite my opinions on knockout, bulkhead and arcee, I'm still all in for the g1ified universes prowl and Skyquake look fantastic. I'm hoping they start including movieverse designs too.
Those two are a step in the right direction imo. Same so many great stuff that can be interested (Bonecrusher, Crosshairs, Blackout, DOTM Megs, Starscream, Sentinel Prime, Ironhide, Shatter, Dropkick, Scorn, and more).
His colours are completely wrong for G1 Skyquake. And not like 'barely off', there's absolutely no G1 Skyquake at all here in the colours. Its like saying "Oh we don't need a G1 Optimus, we have Rusty Evasion Mode Optimus". Like, Universe Powerglide got his accurate colouration down the line. And, well, the whole "Predator jets fitting on" thing kind of wouldn't make sense at all for Prime Skyquake, so there's probably going to be the Predators coming down the line and that'd. Sort of require a G1 Skyquake Please understand: I have waited 31 years for a new figure of Skyquake since I saw that guy in stores. I never got him. But you'd better believe I wanted him to be my big Decepticon leader as a kid and that has not changed in the years since. You do not know how many figures I would sacrifice for a decent G1 Skyquake, because it is many. As much as I love MW Starscream, even he would be thrown into the fires of my collective desire, to be denied to everyone if only to give me the smallest of chances at my childhood grail getting a modern figure. I would personally take a sledgehammer to the Netflix Soundwave molds and prevent them ever being released again. This ain't G1 Skyquake and until he comes out in those glorious original colours, it will remain failing entirely at trying to be so
