Skipping Tarn?? That cat looks amazing. I’ve never picked up a TF comic with him in it, but by all indications, that figure is fantastic. A little trip to the Wiki and my headcanon is ready.
The alt mode suffers quite a bit unfortunately. The tank looks squished, the hands stick out the back, and the gold knee pads don't fold down for some reason leaving pretty big gaps and overall looks odd. Definitely going to wait for a sale.
Generally, giving Hasbro ideas of any kind is bad. Feedback good, ideas bad. Perhaps not this particular figure idea, but just in general. We bitched and moaned for years that we'd pay more for better figures if they were on par with 3rd party. Hasbro finally listened with Siege, then the pandemic happened, and now we're bitching and moaning for years that we're paying more. We really need to shut up and sit back and enjoy the ride and just give them feedback when it's necessary. lol
The problem with both Tarn and Metalhawk lies with their alt modes. Plus I am budgeting for Studio Series ROTB figures this year.
Well I can't exactly magic up a new mold when I make something can I And even then it would be the best use of this mold, since Cyclonus and Metalhawk are easy skips anyway I thought you were going to give constructive criticism, that maybe there was something bad about the digibash itself that I got wrong, but no
Tarn is a pretool for a new Bludgeon figure, mainly based on IDW2 design but probably just a G1-ised version of Cyberverse design.
It's definitely better with the top of the jet painted blue but the nosecone still feels too small for the rest of the jet and it feels so backheavy with how much stuff there is behind the wings. I think even just keeping Cyclonus's original arm transformation would've been a huge improvement because then the arms would feel like they're actually part of the wings and not made the fuselage feel so huge and blocky. I suppose just doing that and making the nosecone a little longer (and giving him a clear cockpit, come on, this is a Voyager, surely you can afford it) would've been enough if they really wanted to use this mold and not base the jet mode on IDW. The back end would still look funny but the rest would be so much better.
Fair enough. Tarn is amazing for a comic character. I dont buy live action stuff so to each their own
I wouldn't call Tarn a Bludgeon pretool, more that they were designed to share a mold rather than one being reworked for the other. Like how TR Laser Prime and Octane both had characteristics of the other rather than the mold being explicitly for one of them and just reworked later. Evo Tarn is definitely Tarn in design but he has some surface detailing that is definitely from Bludgeon.
Nosecone is okay. It's the size of the cockpit that needs to be bigger. Eurofighter Typhoon for example. has a pretty short nosecone.
I'm not gonna feel too mad about Metalhawk's jet mode being a little weird giving the original I'm just glad he looks really good overall and doesn't try to fuse the robot and shell for a worse result. At most maybe the bicep should've been red instead of white to better pretend the wings on the arms are the elbows but that's genuinely the most nitpicky of nitpicks lmao
Thanks to that video I now imagine G1 Skyquake being one the most powerful Decepticon jets. Kind of makes me sad were not getting a full on update of G1 Skyquake, but at the same time this hybrid design were getting looks very good, and they carried over enough details to the point where if they just give him his proper head & deco I'll be very happy with it.
I could see this easily being a error, the same thing happened with the black version of Mafex Hush Batman, said a release date for December of 2020 but didn’t happen.
I mean...we're getting him down the road. Clearly. All they have to do is swap the colors and the head and BOOM! G1 Skyquake. No missile dropping feature, but the core robot would be there.
When BBTS put up the order links earlier this week, their estimate said February, before they took them down and put them back up with June. We know these toys are in port, and it's more likely BBTS actually has them than they sent out a processing soon email in error.
