Loving the G1 vibe here! Have to hold back some though, so Grimlock is the only core I'm getting. Disappointed prowl isn't a g1 replacement for that expensive box set version. Crosscut is an "on sale only" just because i got Burnout. Only disappointment is we didn't see full size ss86 snarl or swoop. Also would've been nice to see selects Medix
Man, someone\'s bound to ask me what i think of this, because i have people on my conversation asking me about new stream everytime there\'s one, so i\'ll just do it here, so i don\'t need to explain much, and everyone can see it, start a interesting discussion or two, so i think.... Grimlock looks awfull ngl, i think he needs a bigger waist, he looks to squat, and this is coming from a gal who likes the Core Slag, and Sludge.... that Nemesis looks sweet tho, i love the axe, i wish it\'s not hollow tho, cuz i mean.... it\'s more visible when it\'s supposed to be pure lazer, than just a black gun haha, prob gonna get him if it\'s on sale or smth Shrapnel looks kinda bad tho, to short, and stubby, he needs to be taller, but i think he\'ll be a decent deluxe regardless, i just don\'t like how he looks the rest of the deluxes are really good, and TwinCast and Skyquake.... but man... i love everything else about Metalhawk, but that chest ruins it, the gold looks really cheap to me, i wish it\'s more SS86 Grimlock color gold, the rest of the figure\'s so good, but the colors for his chest just kinda ruins it, it\'s too bright and... uhhh banana-ee, i hope the colors of his chest looks better in person... decent livestream actually i love the Pipe Line reveals addition, even tho i only care really for the Megatron, but it adds something to look forward to in the end...
As a Japanese G1 fan, I am thrilled we're getting Metalhawk and Twincast. They were by far my favorite reveals. I have no interest in the Core Class Volcanicus, but I take interest in the Dinobot reveals because I definitely want Dinoking.
Alright Hot Take Corner serving them cold! Starscream is still probably my favorite G1 Core class figure and I think I'm in on every redeco of that I can get my hands on. Nemesis Prime is copped because even though that figure is mid, another one for my quickly growing Nemesis collection is a no brainer. I actually love how wild the Grimlock looks, and making him a leg instead of the torso is very fun. As part of me trying to be more selective, I think I'm just going to wait and see if they do Monstructor or another combiner team out of this set. I kind of went all in on the Fossilizers (I ended up with like three+ of each not including the Purple one or Transmutate) so I am hard backing away from the Junkions as awesome as they all look so far. I recently got a set of the Fansproject Insecticons, and never got Kickback, so it'll be easy to skip the other two. Crosscut looks nice but he's a pass too. Animated Prowl is something I have slight problems with (mostly the head it just looks off) but his body and bike reflect my memory of the original toy in a way that I feel extremely compelled to revisit this design. Having the shuriken helps. Twincast looks great! But I think I'd rather eventually get a Studio Series Eject and Rewind set or something as I have Blaster and he rules just fine. Metalhawk emphasizes both the extreme strengths and weaknesses of the Cyclonus mold. The alt mode looks kind of shockingly bad. It's stubby, the color placement feels like a prototype (maybe parts of that will change in production but I doubt it), but the robot mode that unfurls out of it looks big, articulate, and contains an immense amount of character. The one thing I'm bummed about as some have pointed out, the gold has this soap bottle texture in the official shots that's a little less noticeable in the package shots. We'll see. Skyquake is a case where I think the leaks helped him out. At first I was like WHY IS THIS LITERAL WHO AND HIS TWIN GETTING A LEADER CLASS SLOT ILL WAIT FOR A MACHINE WARS DECO but now that I've been sitting with him for months, I might need every version of this mold. He just looks big, solid, chunky, and like a good green bruiser for my growing gang of goons. Similarly, I think Scourge's play pattern with Freezer might have resold me on both of those as opposed to waiting for an OSKO. TM2 Megatron and Blitzwing make me hopeful for Armada Megatron. Armada Super Pants OP probably will be closer to Tall End Modern Leader Class in height and my guess is that Megatron ends up with the complexity and size of Blitzwing. I have confidence that between the consistency of Commander class, and the hot streak of leaders, that they'll nail both of these.
It’s another good year tobe a Transformers fan. I love how they are expanding on the Junkions for older fans with new characters for younger new fans.
Aside from the obvious Cyclonus shoulders Metalhawk basically looks perfect. this will be my one chug indulgence this year unless Lio Convoy goes on sale.
Agreed! I hated the sh!t that they did with the Legends class Insecticons and what they're currently doing with SS86 Dinobots now... But word is that Bombshell is coming this year and maybe the other DELUXE INSECTICONS might filter out next year.
I hope they actually do reuse the molds and repaint them as a different combiner team, POTP Volcanicus had the opportunity to be retooled and repainted into Dinoking but that never happened despite Snarl having a gun on the back of his dino head which was very much like Gairyu from Dinoforce who shared the same dinosaur mode. He's a Commander Class, a modern Leader Class toy will probably reach his waist in Super Mode. Though I hope he's as tall as Menasor, if not a head shorter or so.
Lio Convoy/Leo Prime is definitely worth it. I actually got him 30% off recently. Absolutely love the figure. The paint work on his chest is extremely well done and he almost feels like a Leader figure to me with all his gimmicks and clever transformation. Already know he is going to be a contender for my figure of the year.
He will probably be a bit shorter. My guess is Star Saber height so about 10 inches. Motormaster/Menasor skeleton was able to reach 12 inches since the limbs were not filled out due to the combining gimmick and Jetfire was that height because it was one solid figure that didn't need to split apart at all.
its the lion head thats keeping me from wanting to pay the full price, I'll probably have to try and paint it just to tolerate it in beast mode.
Now look, I care a lot about the alt modes too but Skyquake has one of the sickest jet modes I've ever seen.
I wonder if the minigun looks too much like a real gun than the usual transformer blasters and they wanted to avoid any possible controversy.
Yeah, 2 JG1 characters in 1 Voyager wave makes this my favorite Voyager wave EVER. And we just got Victory Saber, Deathsaurus is coming at the end of this year, and we know that Dino king is coming at some point. We're getting Diaclone variants. And even beyond G1, we're getting a very significant Japanese BW character in the form of Leo Prime (Lio Convoy). I'm loving seeing all the Japanese exclusive characters/variants we're getting.
