Makes me wonder if Volvo has a licensing agreement that it could only be used for a G1 rendition, or if a G2 repaint is on the table. Time will tell.
Love the colors, but that may as well be Razorclaw. Then again, the Cybertron Leo mold was redone as Razorclaw for BotCon. Hmmm...
The original G2 hero is "close enough" to G1 Optimus that I doubt a Volvo exec would recognize the difference. If they do go G1, though, at least go G2 comic G1:
Devcon's a deluxe though, so he's not going to be a Scourge repaint plus, well, let's. kind of be honest here. A deluxe or voyager is way cheaper than the at least leader movie Devcon he'd have to be, and probably has more retool potential. I love movie Devcon's design and all but, he's kind of.... A character who showed up for like, a second in the background, said nothing, and died. G1 Devcon at least, y'know. Talked, has shown up multiple times, in that space of "G1 cartoon characters with no figures" they're slowly filling out.... Anywho, I'm interested in how this is going. Also verrry interested to see what they do with Nemesis Leo given him and his notorious "All of his toys are different colours to the show" history
I'll be utterly shocked if we don't get both within a 12 month span if that is the re-use of the Holiday mold. No way they leave either of them on the table. I can definitely see the Combat one appearing in the capsule line that has G2 Grimlock, for example . . .
While I'm glad Metalhawk isn't a weird fleshfaced thing, I was morbidly about curious how bad it would have looked.
Not a damn thing I am interested in except that we will eventually get a reissue of earthrise dirge. Not even a look at ss86 snarl. Boo
Metalhawk is too big for a pretender Masterforce version, pass. Wake me when a core class version comes out. Shrapnel and the new Junkion I'll buy. And maybe Twincast with the crappy see through Rewind because reasons?
Am I the only person more excited for the core class figures than anything else? Not that hideous Grimlock, but I'm really excited for Thundercracker and Nemesis Prime. I think they both look fantastic. All I ordered was them and Shrapnel.
the concessions they had to make for volcanicus/dinokings legs are interesting, Reverse from the g1 toy where the both bots feet connect to the waist and the bots head attach to the feet. guess they cut out the middleman of gestalt parts and didn't want additional feet or hands. I'm worried what the built in hands will be like if they don't have weapons that turn into them.
Actually looking back at the original BW McDonalds offerings, I wouldn't mind seeing them adapt some existing molds in to those figures. Blackarachnia and Tarantulas could make a great Beetle, Airazor to Manta Ray, Rhinox -> Rhino, and the question becomes if you'd rather them use Tigatron or Cheetor as Panther.
That would be one of the best looking versions of the mould and at point it seems like it was made for someone like Under-3 based on his original design. (Although the mould seems a bit too good for a nobody).
For the sake of a shell, Masterforce pretender robots would've probably been better at deluxe sizing, but I ain't gonna complain about this Voyager offering he looks great in both modes and is the best Legacy Pretender yet by far. My only hope is an eventual shell either official through like Super7 or 3P, and a gaudy selects version with shiny gold instead of yellow. Cause I will double dip.
