I'm not saying I even want them, it's just a more obvious choice to me given those figures are arguably more widely known, hence more nostalgia sales, than the Europe/Australia only Predators despite Mark's passions. This "Prime" Skyquake doesn't really look much like the source either other than the general color and shape In robot mode, and the alt mode definitely isn't F-35 like at all. I'm not saying you're wrong either with the Predators, but clearly the designers aren't beholden to trying to recreate designs precisely so I guess we'll just wait and see.
Crashbar, Crosscut (not in love with all the red but at least its unique), Shrapnel, Twincast (really wish it had a toy head), Metalhawk (jet mode is rough but the robot mode looks great) and SS Scourge preordered. Anything Animated is a very easy pass from me, and while Skyquake looks pretty good I'd rather hold out for G1 or Universe Atlas colors since I'm content with my original Prime Skyquake and Dreadwing. I'm not really big on the Core class to begin with but the Dinos continue their trend of looking horrible, which pains me to say. I may cave when I see them in person since I'm a sucker for the Dinobots but it really doesn't bode well for me buying the Dinoking repaints unless there's a significant amount of remolding done which I just can't see happening. I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
I appreciate your thought process on this but the Dreamwave designs just look chunky. They don't look anatomically uncomfortable. I guess I am just pretty dissappointed in these. Good for Hasbro leaving room for yet another version in 2 to 3 years to sell I guess.
Wow! I only want Shrapnel! I like what they revealed, just not for my shelf. Metalhawk looks amazeballs!
Obviously meant for the retools of both of them, since these 2 are in no way associated with each other
Yeah, because they mixed both the Prime and G1 version together. The vehicle looks like G1 Skyquake's with Prime version bit and pieces added on meanwhile robot mode looks like Prime version but with bits and pieces from G1 added on. I believe they stated something to similar to that in the reveal. Both of them have more in common with each other than Prime Skyquake and G2 Dreadwing.
The only problem with leaks so far ahead is livestreams tend to feel like repeat. That was this month's... repeat. No slight to the TF team, but from a marketing perspective you've got to thread the needle on new versus rehash. If these lives are for fans, guys we've seen most of this stuff sometimes months ago. If the lives are for everyone (which I doubt that they are) then by all means, rehash what we already know. The TF team seems pretty 'hip' to what fandom is saying on any given subject, as they reference even direct quotes sometimes, so guys get with the program and give us more MORE new stuff. Thanks for Shrapnel, Axlegrease, etc., and I loved that you're now leaning into the pipeline reveal concept, but there's definitely more work to be done.
Totally. Glad for the people who are excited for these guys. I like a lot of this stuff but I’m going to hold out for a sale.
Beachcomber, YES! We are continuing through the mini vehicles, so Windcharger, Gears, Seaspray and Powerglide should just be matters of time. Shrapnel was always my favorite Insecticon, so he\'s a must. Cautiously optimistic about Armada Megatron. Devcon\'s the one I really want to see. Skyquake looks cool, but I\'m hoping for a repaint. Grimlock looks terrible, but considering he might be a pretool for a character that originally was a pretender inner robot, I\'m not too upset.
I wonder if the images they used for the characters confirmed to be announced in the pipeline reveals are indeed the images they used as reference for making toys of those characters. ER Dirge was pretty much cartoon accurate in colours so that's obvious. Beachcomber is pretty much the same. I do hope they have the original Armada Megatron toy lying around to use as reference, that Pat Lee art with no Minicon pegs and no shiv does not inspire any confidence.
Maybe it's just me but I've always been much more aware of G1/2 Skyquake, I never even remember G2 Smokescreen and Dreadwing exist except when people bring them up in threads like this. Skyquake was in the recent IDW2 comics, have Smokescreen and Dreadwing been in anything recently? And the reason Skyquake doesn't look that much like the Prime one is because of all the G1/2 design elements they threw in lol, like the window on his chest replacing the cockpit and the shape of the wings and engines in jet mode.
I totally forgot this was happening today. After seeing Pulse's email about it and looking at pics, I preordered from Amazon where I had some extra points. I ended up only grabbing Shrapnel, Crashbar, and Animated Universe Prowl; I had put Metalhawk in my cart, but $35 is just too rich for my blood for a character that I have no attachment to, this is one that if I see it at Target for $30 I'd buy it though. Skyquake I keep mentally going back to Dreadwing and realizing that's who I'd buy here, the colors and the character, and we all know it's coming. I'm bummed that Rewind comes with Twincast, but I'm not double-dipping that mold just for the little guy, plus I hope they re-release Rewind in non-translucent plastic. As for Studio Series, nothing grabbed me except Battletrap who I already had preordered, Scourge looks neat but not $56 neat, especially when Freezer is a sold-separately item, but I could see getting Scourge on a sale price. The pipeline reveals, glad to see Beachcomber, astonished that we're getting a Devcon, glad fans who missed him are getting WFC Dirge (now do Siege Thundercracker, you cowards!), and Armada Megs might actually get legs! So, all in all, a lot of cool stuff but I held fairly fast on my wallet.
