But do you trust the guys currently in charge of the TF movies to make the kind of film you want? You may end up regretting asking for it (I've been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid but I try my very best not to remember Anakin and Padme's 'love story':( ).

If a studio like Marvel had been in charge I might have wanted something like that being attempted, but to be honest, after the first five movies I've really lowered my expectations where Paramount are concerned. Especially if Knight doesn't come back.

It all depends solely on who is writing and directing. If Kruger and Bay come back for some godforsaken reason? Stay away. But if they got some one with a good track record I wouldn't mind seeing it. This is a case where it's sort of unprecedented, so whoever does it will have to figure it all out themselves. And maybe Bumblebee has made me too optimistic but I think Paramount has taken the first step on the right path.

Or the shortest in recorded history. Booze is flammable. Him Grimlock breathe fire. Next week on 101 Dumb Ways to Die.

    Back OT:

If they do have some, it ought to be a minimal natural thing.

And fear not people, I seriously doubt Hasbro would let them get away with "Hawt Robawt Pornz" on the big screen. They gotta put their foot down somewhere.

Don’t know why some are complaining. Transformers falling in love always been a thing. It’s nothing new. I prefer no romance among Transformers, but at the same time don’t it at all.

Well Some Transformers have parents, but most came from one parent. A few like Wheelie and the Dino force babies have two parents. It’s unknown if they were built or born.

Surprised this is the first time I've heard this. I'm fine with it as long as it's just "emotional bonding" and not much more - more or less what's been shown in G1 and Beast Wars before. As long as it feels organic in the writing and not just shoehorned in to be hip.

That would be a million times more entertaining than the romance in Batwoman, that's for sure.

If that meant Powerglide got to be in the spotlight again, I'd gladly take it.

what would be interesting is exploring friendship. Or the evolition of feelings of friendship among autobots who grew closer due to a war where they constantly have to look after each other. Something they lacked before Megatron started the war.

According to many psychologists Love is a evolutionary response to better reproduction.
It's all a brain and chemicals thing, also present among other mammals who have evolved what they call "social monogamy"
A social system that offered the advantages of shared parenting, protection of resources, and social support.

Which in a way makes sense that it was evolved early due to being exposed to a harsher environmen. A way we lived roughly 90 percent of ourttime as humans.
Also makes sense why we are moving away from it. We live a more secure life, and its easier to survive alone today then it was earlier(Alone is a illusion, we are just a bigger amount of people sharing resources, that are easier to collect) . It's a change that I think roughly started to kick in just after the agricultural revolution, and emerging of first civilizations.

Romance isn't foreign to Transformers, so I'm perfectly okay with them introducing it into the movies assuming they no what they're doing, which, you know, before Bumblebee I wouldn't even trust them with a No.2 pencil, but nowadays who knows.

Ironic since the """"Romance"""" in Bumblebee was really weak, I still trust them with it now then before

Yeah, that's sort of what I was getting at in my earlier post. Obviously it's possible to feel love outside of reproduction (there are different forms of love), but romance specifically seems to be a product of the fact that we're a reproductive species. I question whether a non-reproductive species would be wired to feel romantic love. There wouldn't be a biological need for them to marry, have families, or raise children (unless they actually do those things...I guess there are "young" Transformers, so maybe they are raised in families).

All of that being said, I get Transformers romance. The franchise isn't supposed to be a theoretical study of alien society, it's about characters who are supposed to be relatable. And what's more relatable than romance, a common human desire? The Transformers do a lot of things that they probably wouldn't, biologically. Like having the same basic body/facial features as humans (including mouths, which only work because of our flesh).

Logical or not, my main concern with robot romance is that it just comes across as goofy. Romance is a relatively hard topic to get right on-screen, even with human characters. Just think of all the cringe-worthy relationships in movies (including the TF movies...I don't think we've ever seen a convincing or well-handled romantic relationship in these movies). Put that topic with giant robots, and you have something that can easily fall flat. Something like Hulk and Black Widow's romantic tension is hated, and it wasn't even very prominent...it was just too much for audiences. Like I said in an earlier post, robot romance seems like the kind of thing a franchise does when it's exhausted better ideas. Not that it can't be done well, it just seems like a weird thing to jump into so soon with this supposed "fresh start". There are tons of other things to explore.
