    1985.

I expect a lot of Huey Lewis and the News.

Have they confirmed the VW bug altmode already? That's be a nice throwback to G1 indeed.

"Less robots" I hope he means less robots in general and not less robot screentime

I think that's the general idea. I wonder how will it be implemented: Bee and a friend vs bad people or Bee vs a Decepticon?

Since hearing that this is going to be set in the 80's I've wondered how they'll obviously do product placement. Sure there are a lot of products from then still going strong today, but period pieces are generally harder to push products for investors.

I'm curious how they will do this. If the whole movie is in the 1980s, than no modern cars and bad ass super cars. It's avoid change but none of the major car companies get to show off the next big thing. And it will be cool to see them pull in a bunch of time period vehicles.

Knowing what kind of dollar amount they're eyeing for the budget would tell us a lot about how much robot screen time we could expect. I'm guessing they're going to go cheap on this one, probably less than '07's budget.

This one will be like Marvels Ant Man in scope of budget I'd guess.

Wow, seriously? Everybody knows what happens at the end of Iron Giant. And why by virtue of being Bumblebee that isn't happening.

Also, no Mansley type character. Not even worth doing without a Mansley.

They did establish that he can (somehow)explode into parts and reform though. Maybe this is why!

He didn't mean that every exact plot point would be the same as Iron Giant, obviously. He was speaking thematically.

Would be quite annoying if they established something in TLK that ends up being used in the distant past... :L

It would be, but I can see it happening. Like Anthony Hopkins somehow having a bust of TF5 Megatron.

True i suppose, i think some of it might end up being circular, e.g. after TF6 the Autobots time travel back to the past, then we get the Beast Wars spin-off followed by the Roman spin-off.

    It sounds promising.

I just hope there will be some Decepticons appearing, and that they're good ones who can last beyond a single film and appear in the next ones.

So, if my Google-fu has not failed me, '07's budget was $147m and Ant-Man's was $130m. With them already saying "fewer robots" I feel like they're really saying "less CG" and even $130m might be a generous guess.

Now I'm expecting it and if the movie doesn't deliver, it's the movie's fault. Not mine.

The question would be tho, if new never before seen Cons show up in Bees movie, than where were they in the next 5 movies that will have taken place after? It's probably a given that any new ones that show up, will do so to be killed lol.

One Con they could add tho!!!!! Wreckage!! He was one of Starscreams group and was even supposed to be in the 1st movie but was cut.

    Thats the problem with a prequel;

New cons - why were'nt they in Tf;2007?
Previously seen cons - well, we know that they die in one of the other movies?
