There are only so many things you can do with zombies, there is going to be some overlapping of ideas. With rumors starting up again of DR2 starting up again if this kills it I'll be pissed.

This is absolute bullshit. There's no way to have intellectual rights over such a broad idea as zombies in a mall.

And I thought that this had been dealt with before. I sincerely hope that MKR Group gets their ass kicked in court and DR2 continues to make progress.

Well it should get thrown out. I mean, it says it all over the box and during the loading screen: This game is not based on Dawn of the Dead.

Seriously though other than some similar premises they really have nothing in common. The biggest of which being the fact that Dawn of the Dead is a pure survival movie, while in Dead Rising you are required to go out and fight the zombies in order to learn the story.

    *sigh*

    This is ridiculous.

    1) It was an homage
    2) The only real MAJOR similarity is the basic premise of the both of them. Trapped in a mall with zombies.

I dont see how they have a case if the game has a disclaimer all over saying it has nothing to do with Romero's version.

You should start an ask/tell thread.

I'd like to know what George Romero himself thinks about this, assuming he knows.

    This is so stupid.

    Similarities:
    1. Zombies
    2. Mall

    Differences:
    EVERYTHING ELSE!

I don't think this will halt Dead Rising 2 because I am sure Capcom is not planning on revisiting a mall in that one.

If only Carlito had seen the sail boat...then none of this would ever have happened.

He'd say it's ******ed. I'm pretty sure he's a fan of the game.

And we would have Penelope Ann Miller in the game.

George Romero is almost 68 years old. I don't think he has an xbox.

My Mum is 68, and she has one. One of her friends is 86, and she has one too. Age doesn't mean a thing any more.
Romero tends to keep his finger on the pulse of all things zombie related; this is how come Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright cameoed in Land Of the Dead as zombies. I'd be willing to be he knows about Dead Rising.

I haven't played the game, and at face value, I'm inclined to think the suit is frivilous.

But just because there's a sticker saying "DR =/= DotD" doesn't mean that they don't have a case. If it did, anyone could copy anything, paste a meaningless disclaimer on it, and be done with it.

The lame horror film "Chopping Mall" featured people trapped in mall and had to fight to survive...oh wait, those were stupid robots, not zombies...

While there are similiarities, I don't think this law suit stands a chance.

Fair enough. The only thing anyone over forty has around here are DS Lites.
