08 Camaro Bumblebee: Differences between Hasbro and TakaraTomy Versions (WITH PICS) Hey all, Managed to get my hands on a loose piece of TakaraTomy's up and coming 08 Camaro Bumblebee, and noticed some differences which I thought I's bring up: *NOW UPDATED WITH PICTURES 1) HEAD: The eyes are molded differently, on Hasbro's, it's more of a straight visor over each eye, whereas the Takara version has molded the 'pupils' into the eyes, ala the 74' Camaro version. I prefer the Hasbro version in this respect, looks fiercer : ) 2) TRANSFORMATION: Those who have the Hasbro version will know how BLOODY difficult it is to pull the arm/door sections away from the body. The Takara version has fixed this! The arms can slide out easily and click firmly in place. Definitely better than Hasbro in this respect. 3) HIP ARMOUR: The Takara version has an additional tab that locks into the rear of the car, making the car mode tighter seams wise. I'm referring to the leg/rear half of car section, where part of it rotates over to become the hip, and the rest does it's amazing automorph. This tab means that the hip armour must now be rotated FIRST before automorphing the rest of the leg, or the tab might break off. 4) PAINT: Can't say this for sure, but the paint on Takara's one appears neater, although there is a small error with the stripes. The black stripe on the small panel on the leg was painted too short on Takara's version, so it doesn't flow over onto the boot of the car. Overall, I prefer the Takara version, but the Hasbro version's head. Just some news for those wondering whether to import a TakTomy version or choosing between the two
Good eye dude! Though the arm problem I don't have. I would love to see a picture of Takara's BB's head if you have one?
My BB has a super tight left shoulder...good info though. The way this BB is selling, it might be cheaper for some people to import him if they don't want to wait for saturation...if it ever happens. Maybe Taktomy will pull through and give us the battle mode mask somewhere down the line.

I still prefer Hasbro's, as the lack of clip allows for quick transformation. Plus, as I said, the arms qlide out of the sockects and clip. I also prefer consistant stripes. I do like the eyes, but that doesn't bother me.
I think I like Takaras, now that I've seen it...but only just barely. I've got a Hasbro, and I've painted it up nice, so I'm more than happy. SUCH a great figure.
Awesome, thanks for the pics! Overall, some minor changes, but nothing that would warrent spending 20+ over retail prices.
Welcome! Yeah I agree that it's not something worth paying high prices to importing over, that's why I thought I'd satisfy the curiosities about any differences so you guys don't blow hard-earned cash thinking it's something drastically different : ) Glad this thread helps some!
I looked the two figures over and noticed the eyes too. Turns out Tak used the 77' Bumblebee head for their 08 version! The clear pupil eyes are the same eyes in my Habsro 77 one. It's just that Hasbro didn't make their eyes out of clear plastic.
Based on what I've heard, it sounds like the mold differences may be running changes, so if you find a later-wave BB (or the eventual Cliffjumper repaint), it would probably have those changes. Wouldn't be surprised if the BBs in the upcoming 2-packs/battle packs are the updated versions.
