Folks, I wanted to post this in the News section, but remembered there is a forum for Ebay Auctions. This one makes me laugh, as it seems they are just thrown in there among reall common things. http://cgi.ebay.com/Transformers-G1-Optimus-Prime-AM-LOT_W0QQitemZ230092090215QQihZ013QQcategoryZ4696QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This scares me to see how high it will go. Karl PS. He also has some other cool stuff up, and if anyone knows who wins the lot of promotional stuff, I'd like to speak with them.
He didn't know??? How could someone get those and not know how rare they are? But your right Karl, this auction is gonna get crazy high, I'm sure. Mike
31 bucks That way to Cheap for unproduced Transformers It should be over 100 Bucks by now I guess no one really wants it
No, he's not ex-Hasbro. He just bought out someone who was. I'm actually the guy who told him about the fact that his auction contained G2 Stunticons (note the update toward the end). I'm feel incredibly screwed over, since I only told him because he agreed he would set some prototypes aside for me if I helped him ID his Transformers (which I've been doing for a long while now). So far I hadn't asked for anything in particular, telling him I'd let him know when I find something. So much for that. Now, since he changed the description, people may find it more easilly and the price will get higher. So much for honesty and having faith in people. I won't be helping this guy out again... In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Karl has a search keyed to G2 Stunticons, which is how he found the auction, which is why this was posted on the Allspark and TFW, which will in turn lead many more people to see it... I'm having a bad morning.... >_< This seller is a jerk.
Actually, I don't have a search keyed for the G2 Stunticons. I have no interest in buying them, since we've already had them once. I thought I'd be nice and point them out to people that might like another shot at them, such as Dragonclaw, or yourself. Sorry if you think I had it out for you, but you're wrong. Good luck with the auction, though! Karl
Karl, I don't know why you think that I think you have it out for me. Even if you had come across the Stunticons via search, it wouldn't have been your fault, it would have been the seller's. I'm only upset at him. The fact that you did not find it via a search is actually very comforting, as I now know that, if I don't win the auction, it's not because the seller took advantage of me, it's just because someone else found the auction on his own and decided to share it with others.
I'm guessing if I didn't tell him, and just asked him to end the auction for me because I need some of the toys in the lot, he would have ended the auction for me and given the toys to me. But as for the situation where he didn't change the description, it sounds like, judging by Karl's response above that Karl would have found it anyway and posted about it, so I don't think the final price would be that different. Now, consider this. I'm the one that told him to post his auctions in the Transformers category. He used to post them in the "Action Figures > Other" category. If I hadn't told him to change how he posts auctions several weeks ago (I've given him a lot of other advice too FYI), I'm betting practically no one would have found the auction, not even Karl. Then it would probably have gone for very cheap.
Yeah, well, I don't like to take advantage of people like that. Especially when I'm in the role of someone advising the seller about how to sell his items. It just wouldn't feel right to do that to him. I mean, in retrospect, it would feel fine, since apparently he's not compensating me in the way he said he would... But them's the breaks.
I posted this on the Allspark, but might was well repost it here... "And if anyone is thinking of bidding on this, be aware that this guy does a horrible job packaging stuff. I spent $500 on his G1 Galvatron first shot and it was packaged in newspaper in such a way that the toy was basically floating around around freely in the box. I don't know whether it was damaged during shipping because of this, but one of the hip joints is looser than it should be, so it may have been." Personally, I still plan on bidding as long as it doesn't go above my maximum toward the end of the auction. But I'm giving him VERY specific instructions for how to pack them if I win them...
Well, I asked him to give them to me for free because he said he would compensate me in that way when I saw something I liked. If he thought that it was too much compensation for the work I did for him, he himself could have responded by telling me that and then offering them to them at a slightly discounted price, or he could have asked me to make him an offer. The ball was in his court. I still haven't gotten a reply from him, despite him obviously using the information I sent him in my email.
