I worked retail for about two years, and not only did I find it to be less horrible then people say, but I actually really enjoyed it (though to be fair, Dollar General is much ssmaller than a Wal-Mart or Target). I think it has to do with co-workers like fosterlager said. The last Manager I had at DG was one of the nicest people I'd ever met.

Oh my god, there really is an Eyeballkid... I thought it was like that "Kid in the helmet" that everyone talked about.. damn I thought you didn't exist.

I worked retail for a long time, and I hated it after I hit management, yet sadly to try to make ends meet and to get to Botcon, I looked at a second job in retail for the weekends. I was DENIED employment by two places on the basis of only working weekends. WHO in retail doesn't hire for weekends only?

Ah, Target. How I miss thee...no, not really.

Retail workers don't suck, but retail does.

I'm an artist (I paint and draw) AND a professional graphic designer. Yes, my artistic career sometimes (often, actually) takes the backseat to my professional one. In no way do I feel like a sell-out or think less of my art because I make a living. I need to buy food, pay rent and bills, take ladies out on dates (I was gonna make a "a hot triplets" joke, but I don't want to have to explain it), do all kinds of activities, and collect toys. So I don't just sit on my ass waiting for fame and glory to come slap me in the face.
I think there's a quote from Pulp Fiction that's similar that one from Fight Club… I just can't remember it…

    hehe…

I worked retail in college, parts of it I hated, other parts were ok. It was at Home Depot and I liked it because I got to help people and most of the time people were sincerely grateful.

But the job wasn't going anywhere and it wasn't a professional job. I'm not trying to knock retail workers, but at any point you can get fired, no matter how high you've worked yourself up the chain/management, and then what? There is nothing to fall back on unless you have and education or skill. I wasn't that worried about it because I was finishing college and had other plans.

Stop starting threads. Look at what happens when you do?

And to everyone else, please report when threads go off-topic to the point that 5 pages later it's nothing but people making ****** jokes about the thread starter.

I will take my job frustration out on you.
