Welcome Prowl. Thank you for logging into Teletraan. Accessing Autobot Personnel files. Entry #24,257: Burnout Burnout has a pension for speed. He is not the fastest Autobot and his prewar racing career held few victories. His ability to briefly phase through solid objects being the cause of most of his victories. When the war broke out, Burnout attempted to remain out of the conflict and journeyed into the Cobalt Mountains. At a temple refuge in the mountains, Burnout met another refuge seeking peace; a former officer, Daxion. The pair eventually grew to be friends as they found their ideals were similar. Daxion was almost a pacifist while Burnout eventually grew to realize that he would be willing to fight if pushed. Upon this realization, Burnout left the refuge and joined the Autobots. He grew skilled in bladed combat but never lost his desire for a peaceful solution. Later, Sargent Daxion specifically requested Burnout to be transferred to his squad. This squad, Crimson Squad, has been together since and consist of Daxion, Burnout, Breach with his companion Glitch, and Patch-Up. Traitorous Threat Level: Minor Logging off Teletraan. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Greetings one and all. So here's another of my custom Fall of Cybertron characters and my main character, Burnout. A big shout out and thanks to Fakebusker for the awesome sword. For this Burnout I couldn't find a Drift head but could find a GDO Springer head. I like how it turned out but prefer the Drift head to be honest. Also I really wish this mold had been as good as the PRID Wheeljack mold that my main Burnout is using. The main one is using the sword (from Shapeways) in FUD while FOC Burnout is using my first one printed in WSF. I don't have any major complaints or critiques for him myself. I took my time and my paint didn't fight me too much. I hope I differentiated him enough from Sideswipe but I like Burnout to have a red chest with a big Autobot logo so I didn't want to throw any gold on the hood. I also wish I had inverted my paint choice for the hands as it would have helped in vehicle mode as well but oh well. Other characters seen in these pics include: Daxion (who is still a WIP since I've run out of his blue paint and need to touch some stuff up) http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/662025-breach.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/737336-custom-character-roadburn.html As always, comments and criticisms are welcome.
very cool! i wonder. has anyone done a sunstreaker repaint of this sideswipe yet? well, that and getting a sunstreaker head attached to it xD
Cool stuff....love the backstory with "the List"/Prowl's files...adds some fun personality! Really like the choice of colors on the head....I didn't even recognize it as Springer! Nice work--can't wait to see more!
Not bad.I think personaly though I would go more with a dark red adding lighter layers of the glowing effects. So,Red,pink and then white to give it more of the "glow" effect. What is your dry time for the paint on these guys?I'm curious because I have done the Jazz FOC and had some serious paint chipage in certain spots like on his joints, the ball attachments on his hands & the wheels on his feet all flaked or chipped to some extent.
Thank you. Neekatron is planning one. Thanks. I agree obviously. Yeah, the little bio's were added so people could get a sense of who the character is. Without them it's just a random repaint with no context. I wish I had thought to do one for Breach. I too was surprised Springer's head worked so well for what I wanted. As for more of my original characters, outside of Daxion I don't have any more planned at this precise moment. I'm brainstorming using a couple Beast Hunters figures for Decatron and Patch-Up but I'm not sure. I'm also brainstorming using a Vehicon with a Fakebusker head for Roadburn but haven't decided. My problem is that I don't have an exhaustive choice of paints. I have red, pink, and white. If I had used red for the glowing I wouldn't have had it for the figure. But yeah I wish I could have done a better glow on all my figures. Just a case of not having enough paints. Roadburn had I think 24 hours to dry but he's got quite a bit of chipage as well. Burnout had I think a week of dry time and he's still got issues. Basically I try to not ever paint things that I know will be an issue, like ball joints. It just saves me frustrations when they inevitably chip away. The feet wheels on Roadburn are fine but for Burnout my pink was so thin that I had to put a bunch of layers on, which is now causing chipping. I wish I could be a bit more helpful but as you can see I've kind of gone off the deep end with trying to prevent chipping by allowing an excessive amount of dry time. But thank you for the kind words everyone.
Yeah,I'm starting to think airbrushing is the better wayn to go because ,from what I've read, you can thin the paint out so it isn't as thick on the toy, plus you can create a more desired effect for certain things like the "Glow" effects. Airbrush savings begin.... NOW!
I think Springer's head works fantastically--dare I say even better that the original SS's. Superawesometerrific job!
I'm not sure I'll get an airbrush. Just too much uncertainty personally, like would I even use it, where would I store it, can I afford it? Blah blah blah. I don't know. Thanks guys. As I said in the first post, they are from Shapeways.
