I don't think a storage area wouldb e necessary for the anvil & hammer, but for the hands that sounds like a good idea. I'd be ok with the heads as is but if you're thinking of tinkering with them I wouldn't mind seeing them like the heads in the comics. Are interchangeable blasters being considered? The center piece does look a bit plain but one could always slap a Autobot or Wrecker symbol there and call it a day.
First, I like your idea very much, it is a neat set and I'd be happy to buy it as soon as its available. To that respect, I hope you opt for Shapeways as for us in Europe it would be a readily available, fast and relatively cheap option. As for your questions: 1) Storage for hands would be great but storage for weapons would be cumbersome. 2) I like the heads but if you could align a little better the lower half with the upper half it would work better. 3) I think the chest is fine.
Any updates about these? With all the wreckers stuff being announced these days, I'm wondering if you still are thinking of producing the Rack 'n Ruin add on...
Hey guys, Thanks for all the comments and especially the suggestions. I've started working on this and will hopefully wrap it up with in a week or so. we'll see. I've decided to just give them an head that doesn't use the gundam cap. It'll probably cost the same and hopefully look better. I've also decided to redo the chest/midsection. Here's a taste
It certainly looks better than your previous design. It was still great, but the head and chest felt like the weak spots of it. Do you think you'll release it through the 3rd party company that's producing your Swerve kit?
thanks guys. no word on swerve yet cylor. with two official releases and igear releasing one, not sure it's worth it. RnR probably won't do well either since two separate gundam kits have to be purchased and these parts. Just being realistic. probably will end up on shapeways. We'll see. some quick updates on RnR I'll update when I get the test prints. thanks fellas
LOVE the render style on these pics I think anyone who digs old school G1 stuff is going to LOVE this kit. Having the prototype in hand, I have to say, that despite not really caring about these guys before, I'm now eager to do the finish work and add them to my collection, they look GREAT once they're all built up! D/L
Thanks for the vote of confidence Eric. You've been a huge help getting this beast of a kit together. here you have it folks. The Rack n Ruin Kit, all 45 pieces of it. not including the two gundam kits that these fit on Sorry the pics suck. I think I'll be able to get some clearer ones once they're painted. here are a few close ups More to come soon. thanks for following along.
Yeah. I would buy one of these in a heartbeat. It looks nice and uniformed even unpainted. Great job WJ.
Thanks RodimuDawg. Ok so this will act as an assembly tutorial and finish off with some extra pics. First off set up your components on a clean and open surface. You'll need some super glue or modeler's cement. I recommend painting your components before assembly. we'll start with the left arm (anvil) Push the ring onto the bicep as shown Push the bicep collar into place and attach forearm. next push in the ball joint and peg into the "wrist" slide the beg into the anvil push the two halves of the anvil together Push shoulder pad on the the shoulder pop in the anvil For the right arm (hammer) follow the same steps until you get to this point insert the pin into the two Hammer shaft parts. insert the "wrists" with a peg in one end and ball in the other Push the hammer together over the peg and pop the assembly onto the arm The legs and waist. Like the gundam kit the thighs slide into the knee joint and pop into the hips . left back pack. slide the "outer forearm from the unused left arm parts" from your gundam kit into the matching holes on the backpack part. cut off the excess peg on the other side using an hobby knife. attach the antenna attach the gundam rifle to the "forearm" and the assembly over the gundam backpack the hand stores like this Repeat this for the other backpack (using the the "unused right forearm part) The heads are extremely simple slide the ball between the two halves and push together. The chest and torso are simple slide the torso into the chest. and the center vents into the front of the chest. Now you're read for your individual bots. push the leg assembly into the torso for each of your bots push the arms into place next glue the neck assembly into place. slide the back packs into place Now we're read to attache the robots together. push the two geared parts together like this. push the peg in place. attach plugs to top and bottom of the peg. push the rubber parts the gundam kit provides for the shoulders into holes on both side of the gears. close off the back part of the assembly. slide the assembly onto your Rack and Ruin Wreck 'n' Rule Gonna clean up some of the paint and add some highlights and details. Gallery to follow. Information on where to get the set will be made available here. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/commissioner-listing-feedback/640479-wheeljacks-custom-body-shop.html Thanks for following along and all the feedback and comments guys.
