    my transforming g1 megatron

hi again here is my g1 megatron custom. I know I have declared this finished three times before and I am getting into the bad habbit of completing customs the same way capcom completes street fighter games, (I was almost tempted to call this thread super transforming g1 megatron turbo arcade edition) but I think this megatron custom could be finished enough now. When I posted this as a work in progress the main issue people correctly noticed was the scale of the head and suggested I use the smaller g2 head. I have since replaced the head and it looks better. some comment's have noticed the length of the arms being a bit short so I have made them about 1.5cm longer.

On these new pictures you may notice both the robot and alt mode looking a little different this is because I have changed the transformation. the reason I did this was because before I changed it the transformation relied on a section attaching and re-attaching using magnets during transformation. To start with I was happy with this as a necessary compromise but I have since started to feel that this was a bit of a cheat and I made the difficult decision to redo the a large section of the transformation which was a surprisingly large amount of work.

On page 4 of this threads coments are some photos showing how this new transformation works

I initially started this custom to make myself a good g1 megatron without having to pay the hefty price to get a masterpiece one and technically got this megs for free as I had two junkers megs sold to me by dodgy ebay sellers ages ago. I know this will never be as good as masterpiece megatron and the gun mode dosnt look perfect but I am really pleased with this finished megatron

Has anyone else managed to do this custom? without any get out your pistols jokes (too late) I would love to see how anyone else has done this custom, if you could post a link to other g1 megs on this site I would be really thankful

    thanks for viewing

He looks good. My only problem with it would be that his arms look stubby. I know it can't be helped. Nice job.

A mini MP Megatron. Very nice. How does this look next to a Classics Prime?

as odd as this sounds I don't own a working classic g1 prime as I keep my collection and customs to my favourite villains as it keeps me from trying collect absolutely everything. ive got a g1 prime which came with an ebay lot with its leg broken off so I could do a prime getting destroyed diorama with them.

I think this customs scale looks really good next to most g1 or universe/generations toys. I acknowledge that the masterpiece megatron is technically far superior to mine but I personally find there scale a tinny bit off-putting they look great next to other masterpiece toys but look really out of place when placed alongside non masterpiece toys. for some reason I personally find scale consistency really important I remember as a kid being really anoyed that galvertron was nearly as big as trypticon and metroplex

absolutely perfect. if you can figure out a way to have the arms extend out a little longer then he'd all be in perfect proportions, which is no mean feat considering how badly shaped the original toy was!

New or old one? The new head is updated a few posts after he started the thread. I actually think the new one is in right scale.

That new head is PERFECT. It went from David Hasselhoff big to just right. And now I want one in the Classics line done just like that.

Absotootalutely!! That new head is much better!! The other one was just too big and gave it a cartoony vibe, but this one is scaled just right & it gives it a whole new much more serious vibe! Now it doesn't take away from the rest of your fantastic work, but adds the crowning touch (pun intended). I would kick my united Meg's to the curb for this Meg's! Can you post a link to your wip in this thread, I need to check it out too!
