Here's another commission I'm working on in between other commissions and personal projects. This head will go with this build by satomiblood: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/324483-gobots-cy-kill-mk-ii.html

I used my dremel to sand and round the head/helmet, then sanded down the visor. I took some thin sheet styrene and added the front part of the helmet for Cy-Kill. Got the hole drilled for the ball joint also.

The plan is to hit the upper area of the rounded part of the helmet with some thin sheet styrene and see if that's enough bulk on it. If not, I'll go another thin layer, then start on the lower edge of the helmet that wraps around. I'll snap a pic soon to show the head attached to my Universe Sideswipe, so you guys can see it in action, so to speak.

I'm also attaching a picture of the artwork I'm using as reference for this.

    More to come soon!

Thanks, guys! Got a bit more work done. Had to let some sculpting putty set, then finally got back on this yesterday. I sanded the dome of the head a bit, then started slowly building the helmet onto the head. It's not dead-on to the artwork, but I think it's similar, with a bit of artistic expression thrown in.

Now, based on the reference artwork in the first post, do you guys think I should keep the vents on the sides of the head that are there now? Or should I scrap 'em and round the helmet inward toward the face, more like the artwork? Letting the glue dry right now, but I still need to sand a few areas and fill a few tiny gaps here and there. I'm almost getting a nice Springer vibe from it right now--which I think is due to the vents being left in. I'm leaning toward shaving those down and rounding the helmet in, but I'd like some opinions on it first. :)

My vote would be to lean more towards the art work but that just my opinion. I'm sure it would look great either way.

That's some great styrene work right there. It's a tough call. I like the vents as they are, but the other option isn't bad, either.

It's up to DL to decide, although he's very flexible when it comes to artistic vision and freedom.

Thanks, Erik! I think it's one of those things I'll need to think on a bit before deciding. I'd like to hear what dl thinks also. I just didn't want to wipe out the vents before seeing what it might look like with them in place.

I'm leaning towards eliminating the vents, for as much as my vote as a semi-invested party counts.

Got a bit more done on this yesterday. Trying to slowly bring it around to match the artwork a bit better. So far, I think it looks great based on the art. It's kinda hard to gauge it since it's one 2-D art piece that I'm trying to create in 3 dimensions. Anyway, let me know what you guys think so far. The artwork used for reference is in the first post

Update: filled in some minor areas with sculpting putty & lightly sanded. It pretty much looks like it did in the previous update, just smoothed out a bit more in some of the rougher areas. This is done, unless there are some minor areas that need touching up (waiting to hear back). Enjoy & I apologize for taking so long with this! Been uber busy with a new job and some personal stuff going on lately. I'm always around, even if I don't update right away or post as much as I used to. :)
