Classic Swoop Dynobot #1 wip UPDATE

First off I wanna give withprecision a big shout out for his version of Swoop!!!!!!! I'm glad to see his turning out so well and I hope mine will come out just as good.As I stated in his CreativeGD thread I was also working on a version of Swoop.

I know,I know....another wip.My hobby shop is lagging on ordering the styrene and paint that I need to finish up some of my other projects. So I just keep starting new ones to keep me busy until I can finish the others.

I started the mods a while back when I first got my hands on some Generation Thrusts.I didn't want to just add articulation to the G1s'.I wanted to try and give them an updated look but try to keep the G1 feel and transformations.I went ahead and shaved down the back of the legs and cut some out so the knees could bend while the legs were pushed down into them to allow his legs to lie flat on his back.I also removed the wings and cut them down to use as a base for Swoops wings to sit on once I got them.

The thing that took the longest for me so far was finding a cheap donor G1 Swoop. It took me about 2 months but I finally got one cheap($15).He just arrived yesterday so I jumped right on it.So this is it for now. Please keep in mind that this is very early on in the build process and I still have a lot of work to go like the legs and chest.I just wanted to post him and get some c&c!!!!!!

He's the first of the five.Just wait until you see what I've got planned for the big guys!!!!

Hope you like what you see and thanks for looking!!!!!

    UPDATE 8/20/10:

Did a little styrene work to his chest. Also added the vents from the G1 legs and also added his head.I used a Universe Hound half head and G1 swoops dino head.Still gotta blend the 2 better but just wanted to share the progress!!!!!!

No problem man!!!! you're doing an awesome job and I can't wait to see it done.I actually thought about doing what you're doing then decided to stick with their dino modes.I love the Classics/Universe molds and the War Within Dynobots and I'm glad to see you merging the two.Keep up the awesome job!!!!!:thumbs2:

You know its weird, but thats how if I ask someone to custom Swoop based on my concepts it would be exactly like that. Great minds think alike.

    Hey bud!!!!
I'm glad you like what you see.

    Thanks!!!!!!

I just took the Thrust wings and cut them down just enough so that Swoops wings could sit on them. Then I glued them in place and then filled in with Apoxie Sculpt. If you look very closely you can see the parts of Thrusts' wings that I used.So basically they attach and function just like regular seeker wings.

    this looks cool.

it will be interesting to see what molds you use for the others. Are you keeping them all deluxe scale?

I like the articulated g1 versions but agree they are in need of an update( thats why im doing it too LOL)

Excellent work! I've had this same idea for my own and it's great to see how awesome it will look when I finally get around to doing it! Definitely looking forward to seeing the rest of the Dinobots. Keep up the great work, my friend!

    Thanks man!!!!
As far as scale goes,Sludge is supposed to be the biggest so he'll be about the size of an Ultra and the others will probably be about Voyage size.

    Thanks!!
    Can't wait to see him:thumbs2:

    Thank you!!!!!
G1 and C.H.U.G. are my favorites and I love trying to merge the 2.(Or would that be 5?I don't know.I count the C.H.U.G. figures as the same anyways lol)

And by the way,I love your Soundwave!!!!!!.He looks Awesome!!!!

    Thanks buddy!!!!!

    They'll be here soon:ev:
