TRNS-01/Arcee W.I.P. UPDATE UPDATES BELOW!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey everyone! I got it into my head to re-vamp the newly released TRNS-01 (Arcee) figure that I.T. created. She's not bad out of the package but could be way better. So, I'd like to make her more accurate to the 1986 TF movie as well as give her more articulation to match the modern "Classics" line. Here's my laundry list: IMPOSSIBLE TOYS "TRNS-01" XTRAS: 1- Dual ball-jointed neck 2- Toon accurate head along with Two, more "TFTM '86" accurate, interchangeable faces: - Normal, happy - Battle angry (ea. attaches w/ n.d. magnets) 3- L.E.D. lit, lite-pipe eyes 4- Toon accurate "collar" 5-Ball jointed waist ( for more poseability) 6- Lower, white part of "Backpack" hinged to swing upwards ( this will help to allow more waist articulation ) 7- Re-shaped legs to not only look better ( read "more feminine" ) but to also eliminate "birthing hips". Also, some length will be added to lower legs to help make her "slightly" taller so as to fit in better with "classics" TF lineup. Also also, swivel joints added to lower half of upper legs ,again, for more poseablilty. 8- Double jointed knees with knee pads attached to joint, not upper leg 9- Re-designed feetses with poseable ankles & toe tips 10- Streamline style of shoulder pods/fenders 11- Multiple style wrist-articulated hands 12- Added x-tra "scribe" details on vehicle mode exterior ( to help the car mode look cooler) 13- Add photo-etch , mesh grille to front of hood scoop 14- New "headlite" details on shoulder pods using xtra car model tail-lite lenses 15- Bigger, cooler, more G-1 accurate energy pistol! 16- Eighty-six those cheesy wheels & replace with aftermarket parts to make her look like a Cybertronian style "hover-car" similar to TFTM '86's "Blurr" 17- Arms will be given slightly additional girth & length to not only better round out overall proportions but also to lessen fragility 18- Use numerous n.d. magnets as replacements for the transformation attach points ( no more misaligned tabs) 19- Added cockpit details ( ie, slightly bigger seats, dashpad with steering apparatus etc.. ) 20- Crush on Hot-Rod! ( hehe, j.k.! we all know she really has a thing for Kup! ) As always, comments ,crits ,ideas & questions are certainly appreciated! (W.I.P. pics below) Cheers! ~BK In case anyone is visiting who hasn't seen the previous updates, here's a link to the archived WIP pics! IT TRNS-01 upgrades pictures by budokhan - Photobucket -------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE Hey Gang! Back at last with some updates, seems like forever in between dont it? Just some small updates this time round, my new job has me workin' lots of hours & finding time these days to work on Arcee is proving difficult. Antway, here's whats new! First, I've really been working hard to figure out the battery & LED wiring setup for her lite-piped eyes & finally have some good forward progress. Thanks to my good friend BIG HANK's stellar electronic tutelage, I got the wiring layout solved & have got the actual battery pack/Hair-bun well under way. I gotta say, its been nothing more than a small engineering nightmare trying to squeeze the cell, leads & wires into a setup that'll work but I'm pretty sure I've nailed it. Just gotta make some parts to magnetically "locate" the buns to her head & slap on the Apoxie sculpt & the bun-packs should be mostly done. Pics 1-5 below show the battery pack halves, the metal leads, the micro screws ( to connect both the upper & lower halves) & the very tiny on/off slide switch that I'll be using. Also, the wiring schematic that the Uber-helpful Mr. BIG HANK helped me with...Huge thanks to you sir! Pics 6 & 7 Show the battery-bun about where it'll sit when all is said & done. Also shown is the revamped shoulder design ( now rounded, more poseable & with a shoulder guard..still a wip tho) Pics 8-11 Show the revised foot. All I did really was to widen the toe tip for a more aesthetically appealing look & also created a far sturdier ankle joint. The new ankle joint is just a standard hinge & pin setup but it's still got the same range of movement that the previous ball & socket joint had. Kinda contemplating revising the face sculpt too, maybe a more tapered chin & more feminine curve to the eyes...just a thought. Whadda you guys think...should I change the face or leave it as-is? Cheers gang! ~ BK
You have certainly set your self a challenge, I am interested in how this turns out as I haven't heard to my good reviews of this mold...
Hand Unit Circle Finger Hand A (Material) Kotobukiya Modeling Support Goods MB32 These hands should be compatible with this Arcee.
Thank you! Yeah, my list for her is pretty long but I think shes worth it. Just like any woman, a little TLC is what she needs! Then she oughta be able to sell tickets to the "Springer vs. HotRod" fight!! heheh Thanks! There is one other thing I forgot to add to that list: 21- Fix & eliminate the glaring mis-matched seam that divides the chest area & the edge of the car's hood just forward of the hood scoop (see pic below) Thanks a bunch for the heads up on those! they should cut down the amount of work by quite a bit! But at least you have her! Thank you thank you! Yeah, don't be too put off by the ugly reviews on her. Just like classic cars that need a little resto, see the beauty she will be & not the what she is now! Thank you kind sir!!
Best of luck, I'm curious to see how it turns out. I've been thinking of making some more adjustments to mine as well
UPDATE:: Arcee gets an hourglass Figure! Hey gang! Just a quick update. Spent a good portion of time today reshaping Arcee's thighs & waist in order to get rid of her "Child bearing hips" still a work in progress tho, there's much yet to be done! ~Enjoy!!
Wow man.. this is looking epic.. I may be inquiring about how much more I need to spend to ship an arcee for you and do that again.. seriously.. this looks fantastic!
Thanks! Im glad she looks better so far to most folks! Thank you very much! Thanks so much for the kind words! I get a feeling she's gonna take a while to perfect so maybe I could get back to you on that one? I hope she turns out good too! She's got a lot of modding to go & I'm still at the beginning stages but it really is fun working on her. What have you done with yours so far? I sure do! But, she's worth it to me! Thank you very much! Thanks! I hope she gets better still!
