WIP 1 Here's an update on my 1:24 scale movie style custom I'm working on for Plowking. Moving right along. Still have a way to go, but making good progress. There are still a lot of parts from the model that say "Jeep" left to add like the doors, windshield, windows and the rest of the hardtop. The doors will go on the upper arms, the windshield behind his head just in front of the tires and the hardtop windows will go on the lower legs. I'm happy with his articulation and shouldn't lose too much once all the pieces are in place. I'm still trying to decide how to handle the plow. It will go on the forearm, that's for sure. But I can't decide if I want a single blade weapon on one arm or if I want to split it in half and place them on each forearm, looking a little more like shields or gauntlets. Your thoughts on the matter would be helpful. If it helps, the plow blade itself is a little longer than his forearm. Anyway, thanks for taking a look and for any thoughts you'd like to share.
@ smiley I personally think it'd look extra cool if the blade split and had half on each arm. he'd look more tough and movie-like at the same time.
I'm leaning that way myself. The blade is cast resin, so there's always a chance I'd crack or chip it while cutting, but it shouldn't be that big an issue. I'm a big fan of symmetry too. There's still time to decide.
I have several and a miter box. I guess my only concern was the curve of the blade and the varying thinkness from the center to the edges. I haven't had any trouble so far filing and sanding it, so it'll probably go as planned (famous last words).
This is a commission for Plowking of his Plowking character (based on his snowplow Jeep). It will be mostly black. The snowplow parts will be yellow. The grill and some of the mechanics will be chrome and aluminum. I do plan on building one more like this using a WWII Jeep as a movie style Hound. That one will be olive green.
