Thank you so much! I was very happy with how that came out. However, I did not remove that pin. I hand-painted the whole figure and just painted those spots very carefully so the red wouldn't show through. I did disassemble the body as much as I could without popping any pins, though, which helped a lot.
Did you have a head in mind yet? If you haven't looked at Shapeways, Steam Shield has one for this mold now. That would have made life a bit easier for me.
Yeah, uh, steamshield made that for me. He also made an entire conversion kit with two new wings, and an engine that replaces the entire cockpit part, and partsforms into the pouches on her hips.
This is the reason I was asking. I notice now that you didn't even bother painting the back. I'm gonna actually try, though, for the sake of a better looking alt mode. I'll probably paint it first, before moving onto the rest of the torso.
Oh, very cool. I just saw the wing and engine set. I left that back area black just to break up the solid fields of green and off-white. Looking at it now, it may be worth revisiting to at least paint the middle of that section. Good luck on your Anode! I hope you post it as I'd like to see it.
It's gonna be a long term project, given that it's my first custom, so I'm probably gonna do an in progress thread like some people do. I have yet to purchase any of the shapeways parts or the paints I need. And I'm also making my own Lug using Trentalus's head, so it's gonna be pretty costly all things told.
Yeah, Shapeways adds up. Working on the heads by hand gave less than perfect results but was definitely cheap. Your figures will end up looking much more faithful than mine, though. The Rewind figure for Lug can cost, too. I got lucky and someone sold me one at MSRP and shipping.
Feel free to ask me if you have any questions about stuff like paints, glues, fillers, etc. I'm not the best customizer around but I'm happy to share info and I've spent some time looking into materials and techniques.
Oh god, I didn't even realize how much the figure had gone up in price. I actually had a spare that I sold below MSRP a while back, before I decided I wanted to get into customization. Fuck.
Yeah, I saw that. Thanks. I may just hold off on making Lug. I haven't even ordered the shapeways parts yet. This is gonna be a long term project. I'm in no rush.
