Found at target in Stockton off Trinity this morning

 

that sucks man. I kind of had the same scenario but with minimates. you should try to return them to the store, or at least contact Lego about it. I really hate when assholes do this stuff. really takes all the fun out of collecting.

 

Nice to see Target is getting that CV Legion W4 like WM.

I've only seen those twice at WM. It remains to be seen when/if they'll get the same case of 12 that BBTS is selling that contains the missing Rippersnapper w/2 Air Vehicons per case.

 

That is so dumb! First of all, those packs are so cheap makes me wonder if this was a pair of kids that did this.

 

No worries gang, we had opened the first pack the moment we got out to the car (the girlfriend can't wait to see what she picked out) and we discovered the first pile of junk. We immediately headed back in and even opened a second pack we knew was going to be bogus for the clerk that was helping us--she was flabbergasted. She even took a picture herself to send to her manager who had just left. There were about three more we knew were re-packs, so we told the girl to slap something on them to ensure they didn't get put back out--she actually put them in a separate bag with the open ones to bring to her manager tomorrow. Clearly now it's going to be an issue for the store, which I feel bad for them having to deal with--as if they don't have enough crap to put up with. We did get a full refund for them all, but naturally left disappointed in what had transpired.

If they were, they're master forgers for such young ages. No, as I recall the girl helping us originally processed the return of the 10 bags, stating it was one fella (which I discerned was someone older). It is moronic though--it was about $30 worth of figures, none of which have the collector value of the last wave's "Mr. Gold", which was ultra-rare and usually sells on average for $500 on eBay.

 

Series 11 is early enough in its release cycle that it's sorta profitable to resell these things if done on a large enough scale. If it was just this handful of packs, it's probably some unscrupulous collector that thinks they're above paying money for things. However, if they did a handful here at this store, a handful at another store, and so forth, it could be quite profitable.

The minifigures are the most "valuable" things in LEGO sets. If you've ever looked around your local Target or Toys R Us, you'll see that the LEGO aisle is under really heavy security and constant surveillance. There are cases where resellers buy a bunch of a set, open it up and take the minifigs out, reseal the set and then promptly return the sets. (This is why LEGO separates the minifig pieces into several bags.) Reselling minifigs is a big business on places like eBay, as you can make back all of the costs for purchasing the initial set (and then some) and still be able to sell the set pieces, sans minifigs, for maybe 25-50% of the initial cost of the set. It's quite disgusting if you think about it.

On the upside, the resale window is very short with LEGOs. Some minifigures will retain their high value while most quickly become not worth the effort of reselling. Also LEGO does a great job of keeping the shelves full of stock.

I think it's cool, I'll keep my eyes peeled for that. At least it's not a flat out error like the Tomy Springer where the box says "Robot to jet to tank!" lol

 

As figures exclusive to larger kits, I can see people pilfering the figure out and returning the sets (which I would assume every single person selling the figures individually from a set probably pulled--why junk the entire playset and just try to sell the figures unless you were up to shenanigans?) but as far as the individually-packaged figures go pulling this kind of crap over a wave that has a fair balance (judging from feedback I've seen on LEGO boards about this wave) of figures just doesn't make sense. Furthermore, anyone paying more than a dollar over MSRP for a figure on eBay's just one big sucker considering how new this wave is (about a week old)--heck, even N. Hollywood Target had an empty display that hasn't even been stocked yet (the price sticker was waiting to be affixed to it). And like you said--they're abundant, have short resale value, and honestly have very little profit margin, even if you bought all sixteen to sell (even at $2 over cost, that's going to net $32 for the set). It's not like the Kreos, which in and of themselves are difficult to find stocked (though I will mention N. HWood Target again just got a fresh box of Wave 3 TF Kreos--there's at least one Huffer and one Beachcomber in it still--though I bought one of each for trading purposes).

Still, don't misunderstand--I agree with what you're saying, I just think it's idiocy for very little profit.

By the way Mouse, the name and the weapon have been changed and even re-arranged. Note where the Decepticon logo got shifted. While I wouldn't chalk it up to errors per se, I would think for a nitpicky collector one might be more valuable than the other, depending on how many were produced for each variation.

 

Yeah, reselling toys is very small profit on each item sold. People that resell have to invest a lot of time and money to actually get enough stock to make it worth their while. For the majority of us it's not worth it, but I guess resellers find the extra cash to be beneficial.

Have you been to the Kmarts in Hayward on Mission and San Leandro off Washington? I've seen FoC Soundwaves at other Kmarts, so maybe they'll have other Generations figures?

 

Probably has slightly different paint apps like with ha road buster (his big 88 got painted better)
