The con was good with pleanty to buy, my only and biggest gripe was that dealers could and did win many of the door prizes. I mean come on, the big guys like sdcc metroplex and project x genesis were won by dealers, only attendees should be able to win.

As my first time going as a vendor, I can't say how much I disagree with this statement. The vendors weren't given tickets, we had to BUY our tickets if we wanted to participate, and let me just add, that many of them (including me ;) ) worked very hard to get all that cool stuff there for you to buy. The people that put this show together work very hard for ALL of us, and want ALL of us to have a good time, and maybe have an extra treat to go home with for participating!

Anyway, had a great time at the New Jersey Collector's Convention! Met some really great people, and had some great conversations about more than just toys! Looking forward to being able to participate in the next one! Wish I could say I bought something, but it was so busy that it didn't really leave much time to shop personally.

If you were interested in anything that we had at Uncle Bobby B's and missed out, please feel free to hit me up here at TFW, or visit my Facebook page @ www.Facebook.com/UncleBobbyBs to see what is still available (there is still quite A LOT!!!) We will start adding items tomorrow after we go through what has been sold (and in a few cases stolen unfortunately...sadly a byproduct of being so busy).

Still worth all the trouble, and special thanks to Soundblaster1 for helping out a hungry seller with lunch!

Yes you may have bought tickets, but vendors winning door prizes is like the priest winning the 50/50 in a church raffle. It leaves a bad taste.

Thanks to Fran and Co. for putting together a great show once again! Worth every penny spent at this show. Always a great time hangin' and talkin' to folks all day long. Can't wait for April's show next year!

I disagree with you, if the dealers had to buy there tickets to be part of the door prizes. I'm ok with that as u paid to get in the door

Had a blast as always! Can't wait for the next one!

One day I will break the curse of not winning a prize! It was not this time, and I was so sure! Next time! Next time IS MY TIME!!! LOL

EDIT - also, sales seemed somewhat slower despite the crowd. That's my own fault for not bringing terribly "epic" items this time, BUT - I also learned that the mac machine in the lobby broke down like EARLY in the show. Lack of easy cash might have contributed to some slower sales for some folks. Just FYI.

I disagree with this as well - it'd be different if all of the tickets were free. Then, if a dealer won, it might be "dirty". BUT - they were only free to people who attended the show, dealers had to buy them. Sure, attendees paid to get in - but dealers paid for their tables, and had to buy tickets on top of that. So it's not like the dealers got any special consideration. And attendees could also purchase extra tickets to win, just like the dealers. It's an even playing field.

ALSO - consider how many times Fran had to call a new number because the number he had drawn belonged to someone who had already LEFT. If that person had stuck around, after getting their free ticket, they WOULD have won a prize. Instead, in some cases, Fran had to call two or three numbers and THEN finally someone won, perhaps a dealer.

The people who are there ALL DAY just have better odds of winning. And attendees are welcome to stay all day too, not just the dealers. So that's where the advantage is. It's not like attendees got robbed - the people who are there ALL DAY, for EVERY drawing, just have an advantage. The attendee that stays there all day just like the dealers do have the same odds of winning as anyone else.

The door prizes this time were especially epic! If you wanted a decent chance to win you needed to get there early, maybe buy lots of extra tickets, and then stay all day long. That's just how it was gonna be.

Sure dealers had to pay for their tables and buy tickets. But considering the dealers are there to.sell and make money its not the same as someone going g there to buy merch. Hell being a vendor gives you the upper hand because as you sell stuff you can just go and buy more tickets. If dealers want door prizes, they should have their own special drawing and leave the event door prizes to the people who attend the show. Again the idea of a vendor winning door prizes and in some cases multiple door prizes makes it feel rigged and no I'm not saying it was, I'm just saying it doesn't feel right.
Imagine if the state government was able to buy lottery tickets and won, you can't tell me that wouldn't leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Well... state and government employees CAN play the lottery. The limitations are age (I think you have to be 18) and the people who WORK for the lottery and their families are normally ineligible.

But, your example would make sense - IF Fran and/or any of his employees had won. To my knowledge, they do not participate.

I had a great time at the show. Lots of good people there, finally sold a bunch of my 3A stuff, all in all it was a blast.

Yeah, it's really an upper hand. Some of us are there selling our personal collections as supplemental income to help us get by when work is slow, you think it's just free cash we're going to throw into a lottery with very little chance of winning?

If you're that upset that a dealer won a COMPLETELY RANDOM RAFFLE then next time just buy up all the tickets yourself, and you're set.

Your obviously missing the point, but it doesn't matter at this point. There were plenty of other upset people there at the convention, everyone waiting in excitement for the raffle would just say another vendor? Or this vendor again? Its just bad taste overall, have a separate vendor raffle.

This was a nice con. I did not know you could buy more raffle tickets. I didn't see a sign saying you could. To my surprise I only saw the vendors with their strips of tickets while most visitors only had one. I don't mind the vendors participating but would've been more fair if everyone could only get one ticket.
