yeah, but part of the appeal of the Dinoking is due to his near high inavailability. That's the only reason most collectors even want him though. It's a redeco idea but not one I see Hasbro taking a chance on do to it's obscurity and it being something not even available in the US the first time around.
That's cause even kids associated Hasbro <-> Transformers. They were thinking: "Oooh! Hasbro Dinosa ... WHAT?! They don't transform? Oh dis some bull sheeeeeait!" hehe
So in reality you're being somewhat anal about it. I was avoiding on-screen Villainous dinos. So unless there was a damn good reason/way to get all four done as BW Characters, I wasn't going to do it. I hate having to say that, but I know that there is an audience for Japanese characters done by Hasbro. And I supposed Triceradon could be used in place of Impaladon, but the idea was with the exception of Sky Shadow, the names are harsh and evoke being shredded, crushed and ripped apart.
not anal, following the guidelines by Hasbro. The dinobots would be in Generations since it's updating classic characters. What would the remolds be (because there almost always have to be remolds). Aside from Terrorsaur there isn't a remold that would work because there are not any other characters with that "name" value. That's not to say it wouldn't happen. Hasbro has surprised me before (what with the Doubledealer and MEtroplex), I just find it highly unlikely based on what Hasbro's focus is (money) and what the Generations line is supposed to be (past characters redone with modern sculpting and articulation). I'm just playing Devil's Advocate based on the question posted in the topic thread.
I just don't get this, and maybe I am simplifying this, but why is it okay to release 5 versions of Bruticus in repaints that in some cases don't even make sense (wreckers), but it is not okay to release Dinobots in ways that don't make sense? Unless we want to say, he combines.
Classics Grimlock got repainted into overkill so why not repaint the other Dinobots into the other dino cassettes, Or why not the beast wars neo dinos? If you include the G2 decos then every one has at least 3-4 repaint/retool options. Grimlock: overkill, G2 blue and turquoise Snarl: slugfest, saberback, G2 red and green Sludg: Saur, Unreleased G2 Slag: Guiledart, killerpunch, G2 red and green Swoop: Dile, terrorsaur, unreleased G2
Hasbros lack of luck with dinosaur toys might have alot to do with the toy lines they where in lets see animated yup, universe before the movie then beast mechines yeaaaaahhh nah all those lines are to old to count towards today kids On top of that saying the non show characters from beast hunters make sense and dissmising dinobots who exzist in comics and games is a lil dumb just cause u dont like dinobots dosnt mean they wont I have 12 brothers and sisters 19 cozens rangeing from 2 to 25 me being the oldest at 27 and i talked to my younger family and they love dinodaurs and what more told me if i could find them to get them for cristmiss for them
Jerasic park sucked and the toys sucked worse. Make a bad movie toys will do bad make bad toys and they wont move at all look at the dark of the moon line we still have wave 1 here
The G2 repaints are an interesting way to go. I could see that part of it. Still. I still say maybe if they were packed together in an exclusive set and made a particular exclusive, Hasbro would take a shot.
Based on what? When does Grimlock really show up without the others? And of course you hear the group "Dinobots" more than the individual names. Most people seem to want the entire group rather than just one or two members. How often do you hear people asking for just Dead End, or First Aid, or Scrapper? You don't, they ask for the Stunticons, the Protectabots, or the Constructicons.
Yup, this. All we're seeing here is a lot of "*I* don't think the other Dinobots are important and/or think they all look the same" personal opinions being put forth as though it's a proven fact across the board that everyone must view them that way.
I've been saying from day effing one, there are plenty of possible Dinobot redeco options. Grimlock: BW Megatron, Overkill, T-Wrecks, Goryu, Dile Slag: Triceradon, Guildart, Killerpunch. Kakuryu Snarl: Slugfest, Sabreback, Striker, Doryu Sludge: Rairyu, Zaur Swoop: Terrorsaur, Yokuryu, Graphy, Terranotron, or just drop them into the Beast Hunters line with new original decoes (remember when we used to get those?) as new characters I could see the Dinobot redecoes being broken down thusly Dinoking-TFCC either via Botcon of the Figure Sub service G2 Dinobots-Amazon exclusive, like the Bruticus set Dinocassette homages-Ehobby or Toysrus exclsuive
You say 5, but really only two of these sets are mass-market retail releases. And two of the exclusive sets are almost virtually identical.
Well, I would argue that an Amazon release is as "mass-market" released as a TRU MP figure. And while yes, they are virtually identical, they are not identical (at least from what I heard). So it was still a milking of the figures. If you want I can take away the SDCC exclusive. You still have 4 versions that were really really really available for purchase. (Didn't want to go mass retail). In either case, the original point sticks.
I believe it comes down to Hasbro being lazy and all about making money. If it won't repaint well 3-4 different times it's a pass. Also it is the end of the Beast Hunters toyline. The Predacons Rising wave were all redecos. Beast Hunters: Predacons Rising - Transformers Wiki We got Grimlock, if they did more they'd have to commit to at least 2 more to have a nice 3. It's clear the Dinobots fit in the Prime Beast Hunter storyline as we've seen in the recent comics.
we need them to make the other dinobots, it just makes sense lol in fact it would be nice to have all the classics characters completed
Predacons Rising is a Target exclusive. Name me a time when a store exclusive in the North American market was more than just a redeco of a previously released figure. I can't stand when people claim Hasbro is "lazy." Lazy would be saying "screw it, you got your G1s, go play with those or something." Or even more than that- "you got your G1 Prowl, if you want Smokescreen, go paint it yourself." That's lazy. Recouping production costs is hardly lazy. It's a standard business practice. Is every single DCUC figure a brand new toy head-to-toe? No. When has a Batman line not consisted of a handful of characters and three handfuls of Batman redecos and retools? Never. Going back to Transformers, is half of the G1 '84 and '85 line-up retools and redecos? Damn straight. But okay, dude, whatever you say- it's "lazy." It's not like redecos have been a part of the business model since Barbie and GIJoe or anything. They're just lazy now. Ugh.
I gave up trying to figure out what Hasbro will or will not do. They've been all over the board in terms of character updates. Straxus, Skullgrin, Thunderwing, no kid today is going to know who the bloody hell that is aside from collectors and comic fans. While it wasn't a mass retail release, they did do Combat Hero Prime, who was a cancelled figure no less. First thought is they just simply haven't gotten around to them yet because of the numerous updates they could do. They probably aren't going to do FOC since that isn't as prevalent as before. We still might get something in the future. If they can take a chance and do the Wreckers, I still have hope we will have G1 Dinobot updates somewhere in the future. I don't buy into the "kids don't play with dino's anymore" excuse. Kids go after what they like. If it catches their eye and they think it's cool, then they'll want it.
Just going to add that slag and snarl (possibly sludge) could be heavy re-tools Of each other to cut costs.
