After putting Trailbreaker on my shelf, I am still wondering what is Hasbro's issue with the Dinobots? Why do they just refuse to make the remaining figures? I mean, they showed up in the game. I didn't see Grimlock shelf warming, they are doing beast figures, but still no Dinobots. I wonder what the concern is on their part? What, kids these days stopped liking Dinosaurs? If so, all the kids I see didn't get the memo.
They think that a bunch of guys with similar alt. modes and color schemes all sitting on the pegs at the same time wouldn't sell. Same reasoning behind why we haven't gotten a wave of Classics Constructicons or Aerialbots (other than the whole combining thing).
How about G2 coloring? Or switch the heads and call it some other type of Beast Wars figure. They do so many repaints that I am sure they could figure something out. I mean, look at what they did to Bruticus. They only repainted that mold 5 times this year alone. - SDCC Bruticus - Platinum Bruticus - Fruticus (G2) - Regular Bruticus release - Wreckers Talk about milking a mold.
Grimlock: Goryu Slug: Impaladon (Kakuryu) Sludge: Landquake (Rairyu) Snarl: Sawstriker (Doryu) Swoop: Sky Shadow (Yokuryu) Boom. Done.
Plus the fact that they're not as popular as Grimlock, or as recognisable. I mean really, I hear "dinobots" more than any of their individual names. They basically just exist as a posse rather than individuls.
This right here. None of the Dinobots can be retooled into another character or at least a popular character. You could redeco Swoop into a new Terrosaur but what could Slag, Snarl, or Sludge become that would sell well? Especially Sludge.
Planet X is already working on a game accurate Swoop, and it has been stated they are working on the remaining three as well. I have an extra Hasbro Grimlock if you're interested
Do any but the hardcore Transformers crowd even know who those are? Are we making another combiner Dinobot set? Hasbro would not put a lot of hope on remolding the dinobots into characters that were Japanese exclusives that not many outside of the hardcore Transformers base would even care about. heck I consider myself a hardcore Transformers fan and I could care less about Dinoking.
and I will be first in line for that Swoop and the other three when they are released. Make no mistake I want updated Dinobots figures
The Lack of Success Hasbro has had with Dinosaur toys of late might also contribute to the reason why Hasbro seems really reluctant to produce the other dinobots. What with there not being any major media that features dinosaurs in this day and age, Dinosaur toys don't exactly fly off toy shelves. Case in point; you'll probably see the very same Papo and Schleich dinosaur figures in your local major retail chains during your monthly shopping trip. Those Jurassic Park III dinosaur toys Hasbro kept reusing didn't exactly fly off store shelves, either (It didn't help that most of the JPIII figures sucked anyway)
You said you see no redeco ideas. That's why I did it. Plus, Dinoforce could be the Decepticon's response to the Dinobots, with Shockwave modifying several Decepticons to be a counter to the Dinobots.
Maybe they're holding out until TF4. If any rumors are true, they may be getting the limelight again, and potentially opening up the possibility of official future releases.
different thing though. BEast Hunters is a newer IP from the property as opposed to the line that focuses on new molds of old favorites. Plus, we have had redecos already of several of the dragon figures (Target exclusives spring to mind) and most of the Deluxe figures are redecoed versions of the RID wave before it. But, for the most part it's introducing newer figures in some form or fashion. The Generations line is solely focused on the figures from the history of the franchise and that's the problem. WHat other figures that Hasbro is sure will sell can they come up with? Terrorsaur for Swoop sure. But Slag? Snarl? Sludge? You can make an argument for Triceradon and Dinobot Striker for SLag and Snarl but Sludge? You can make a case for the Dinoforce? But Hasbro would not do it unless they were certain they would get a return on their investment. Grimlock they know will sell so they will take a chance on him making his money back without having to retool the mold (because aside from BW MEgatron or OVerkill what can he be redecoed into?) but the other DInobots are a stretch. Having said that, they could do a limited box set TRU Exclusive. Much as I'm loathed to see that option come around. also a good point
