Masterpiece scale for me. As much as I want my cast fleshed out, I'll take pure cartoon accuracy over a full cast any day.

Classics. I've got the iGear Coneheads and FT Quakeqave but I prefer my Masterpieces official. There's already a massive amount of Classics toys out there, reaching the same amount of characters in Masterpiece form will take years.

I vote for Classics; I believe we'll see less and less of them, especially at a DECENT SCALE(*sigh*Trailbreaker) as time goes on. I really believe Hasbro may faze them out for Masterpieces - I think Springer and the IDW bots were them just throwing us(Classics, G-1 oriented fans) a bone........

both have their positives, so both have their place as long as each respective figure is done well and brings something to their respective lines.

An entire Transformers lineup of only MP-sized figures would fill up an entire house and might take months to transform.

Honestly I like both, but Classics has the added benefit of [theoretically] more characters and lower costs. So, Classics it is!

Why does this have to even be compared. We need BOTH classics and MP scale figures. Their is a constant divide because everyone constantly wants one or the other depending on the character/specific scale setup they have going.

Honestly I'd love to collect my toys all in Legends/Cyberverse scale.

I do not have the money to collect MP, so Classics is where its at for me. Some figures are only going to be appropriately sized in one scale or the other though, so I think both are viable options for a well rounded collection. Even Cyberverse/Legends have their place.

The first that comes out unless there is evidence any others coming are better. Otherwise big plus cheap.

I voted Classics. Considering I have about 100 Transformers that I consider CHUG compatible and about 15 that are MP, selfishly I wouldn't be excited to start a Transformers collection over in a new scale. And many of my MP I use with CHUG anyway (the seekers, Grimlock, the cassettes). Plus, it would take a decade or more for HasTak & 3Ps to release that many characters in the MP scale.

Well, Masterpiece is more than just a scale. It's supposed to be, as the name implies, the pinnacle. Engineering, paint, accessories, likeness to iconic portrayals, etc. Something like Genesis could only be made into more of a masterpiece-level figure by being more slavishly based on the G1 design instead of WFC. And really, if that's to be scaled to existing MP figures it would be about the size of the new Metroplex.

It'd be nice for *everything* to be made made to Masterpiece levels but given the cost of 3rd party figures that's just not feasible. To say nothing of the sheer amount of space figures like that take up.

Plus, Classics has grown to be a pretty large collection. It's a joy slowly filling in the gaps in that collection, which the occasional masterpiece of a really iconic & deserving character showing up.

    Huh? Hoist/Trailbreaker mold, Springer/Sandstorm. Blitzwing/Doubledealer, Whirl, Metroplex & Scamper...
That all seems to be pretty in line with Classics to me.

I prefer third party to remain in the classics realm. It is a huge collection a lot of us are invested in, and the lines are a lot blurrier as far as what can be thrown in there.

Masterpiece is a very defined thing. You can't just take an original design tank Megatron the size of MP-10 and call it masterpiece. I mean you COULD, but you would RUIN IT FOREVERRRRR!! lol...

Since MP-10, Masterpiece has been a set (reasonable) scale with slavishly accurate representations of G1-era versions of characters, whether it be toy, comic, or cartoon. HasTak are honestly doing an excellent job with the line, and have drastically increased the rate at which they are released, so I see no reason for third parties to bust in there full force. There is also a VERY distinct mark of quality that needs to be met to truly be an MP figure. The only 3P to truly get this is Fanstoys. Quakewave fits seamlessly into MP, so that is an exception since it meets all the criteria.

So yeah, in general I want 3Ps to stay in classics. It makes the most sense. Classics has been reimaginings of classic characters from the very beginning. As such, artistic liberties taken are absolutely welcome and complement it all perfectly. Just my $0.02 on it anyway, these are obviously not defined rules in the Manchild's Guide to Proper Robot Collecting.

I voted classics, as they form the bulk of my collection and most of the toys I buy tend to be bought to work WITH said classics, rather than being displayed separately... The MP figures I own (seekers, Quakewave, Grimlock, FaithLeader and such) were bought because I liked their size in comparison to the classics - I passed on the MP cars thus far because while I enjoy the aesthetics and 'stepped out of the cartoon' feel - that isn't enough for me. I do wish that MP-10 had been a head or so SHORTER, then I would have gladly replaced my Faith Leader with him. ^^

    can i vote for both?

of note: i put MP Rumble and Frenzy in with my CHUG 'cons, and the United Rumble and Frenzy in with MP because the swap really makes them in scale.

    haha

with finite space and finite time, as much as I like Transformers, there are definitely higher priorities in life.

Not even to mention the finite money that collectors are all aware of...

So far all this poll's results are showing is that there's clearly a market for both.
