I'd be so shocked my pants would fall off if they actually did an "Empire Strikes Back" inspired 5th film and actually allowed the Autobots to not win in the end. (Did I say Autobots) Opps sorry I meant "Humans".

I don't care about the 'human element' anymore. These movies are call 'Transformers' and we get more human crap than we get TF stuff.

Since 1984, humans - and their relations with the TF - have been an integral part of the franchise. The very CONCEPT of the "robots in disguise" came from their being on Earth, interacting with humans etc. I don't know why some fans find this so hard to understand.

Somebody else mentioned "Beast Wars" as an example of a TF series with no humans. Correct - and I thought it was lousy.

Yes, the previous three films had an imbalance in that humans had too much focus, but perhaps that will be addressed with this 4th film.

A balance is needed, but let's cut the hysteria.

I think the point is it was about Transformers arrival on Earth and their interaction with the locals. The Live action movies are more like an Alien Invasion movie totally from the point of view of the Humans. Or if you wanted to be generous it's the story of the local and their interaction with an alien race from another planet for good an ill. The difference is one of emphasis - but it is an important distinction.

As best as I understand it wasn't until DOTM where they even had a scene where the Decepticons simply spoke to each other with no human involvement. And surely I'm not the only one wondering why Soundwave is seemingly happy to take orders from a Human.

Calling Beast Wars 'Lousy' sounds like hyperbole to me. Beast Wars Megatron was at least allowed to have plans that worked out and didn't end in him running away with his tail between his legs calling for a retreat unlike G1 Megatron. he was the most intelligent and crafty Megatron until Bob Skir and Marty Isenburg decided to pi$$ all that up the wall by turning him into a deranged Robo-Nazi in Beast Machines.

But no Beast Wars is far from being "Lousy" even Armada or RID isn't 'Lousy'. I perhaps give you that for Energon though personally I prefer 'incoherent' as a descriptive term for that show. I Like Transformers Cybertron a lot but that show also suffered a lot for the kids giving the Autobot orders and having access to knowledge and abilities that were improbable at best. But compared to Kiss Players or Transformers Go those shows were bordering on the sensible, and for that Reason id Actually place both Beast Wars and Transformers Cybertron above the 1980's cartoon in my personal regard.

I actually like the human element in the Transformers movies because adds more realism and emotion. When the humans fear these giant alien robots, it makes the Decepticons feel more brutal and menacing.

But the biggest problem with the third movie was that there was just way too much military interaction. The NEST team never feared the Decepticons, so it basically killed the evil Decepticon vibe. I liked the first movie better because there was more chaos and the feeling of being underpowered against the Decepticons.

The forth movie actually looks like that and that's why I think it'll be better. China has never encountered these giant alien robots so it will be fun to see how they will react. Also, it looks like this movie will have less or no military evolvement.

So parent point of view for the next movie..Hm..not bad...but I still want the focus to be the robots, not the humans. :(

I'm pretty sure this is an allegory about us.
Marky Mark is the aging G1 fan base. His daughter is the franchise. The boyfriend is Michael Bay.

You make a good point, though I'd never previously had thoughts about doing the franchise up the wrong 'un.

I'm not entirely certain, but I'm pretty sure the whiny child character in the previous three movies had more lines than all of the robots (sans Prime) combined.

And in a film called Transformers, I don't think that's right.

This was one interview about one specific topic of the movie. Chill   Every live action movie for years to come (even with different directors) is going to have a human story because it takes place on Earth.

Human element, hhmm, I would rather have more transformers transform and fight each other than have a human element.

Oh well, can't have it all.

I may have to skip this movie. There will be TF5 & TF6.

So it seems like Mark will be the main guy and his daughter/her boyfriend will just be the side element. Sounds good, so the father gets thrust into the danger? Definitely not what I expected, but I'm excited anyways

So the human element is about :

"OMG my little girl is growing up and SURPRISE she has a loser boyfriend who now I have to deal with.....all while saving the WORLD! and there is this one part were as part of our bonding/growing I have to trust him and he totally comes through, I guess Son your alright....."

    Talk about a super dad..........

Its unfortunate all the awesome potential of Transformers has been wasted.

My only hope is that maybe 12 years from now, in the year 2025 after everyone has come to grips with the trash that is the bayformer franchise that some brave and smart director will actually look to make a good TF movie....a man can dream

To those clamoring for a story without significant human involvement: no one is listening anymore.

I've been a fan of this franchise since it began, and Spike was always the stand in for us kids who were learning about the Autobots and Decepticons and their ongoing war. We discovered everything through his eyes. And like it or not, without a human perspective and human/earth based involvement, the characters and the story would lose much of their relevence and relatability.

I wished the human element was toned down. the humans shouldn't be able to match the Decepticons out of firepower and the Transformers out of screen-time.
