Let's pack it in more box than needed so that way when it gets crushed at TRU's warehouse....it will still be A-OK!

Too bad they didn't put thought into Laserbeak and Buzzsaw's thruster wings....so tight, they will break if you try to put them up.

Congrats to everyone getting their prize! Ive been following this since I was cancelled on eBay, and forced to camp on 7/17..lol. Lots of people have been helping each other out and this is what its all about. This MP release will go down in the books, as bad and aweful as some of it was, I am glad to be a part of it.
For those still looking, happy hunting and good luck.
Ask your TRU manager to look at other stores for stock, mine was able to help me grab one for me for my buddy in the UK, just a tip.

I picked my big boy today - I paid to have it switched to UPS delivery, then had it held at the UPS location for pick up, hoping that keeping it out of delivery drivers' hands would keep it from getting manhandled - no such luck.

The outside box looked OK - and inside there was a lot of packaging, except on the back side. My SW box was pretty crushed, to the point that the inside plastic tray was a bit mangled. Fortunately, all the contents seem OK.

No QC issues to see - I only tried transforming Buzzsaw (since I'd rather break him than Laserbeak), and man are those fins tight. I worked them back and forth, and was able to loosen them up, but I can see those getting broken easily.

The hips on SW are really tight, too, to the point of making me nervous. I guess they're all going to take a little work to loosen up.

But, sweet jesus and baby jesus, is he a good looking boy.

Me so happy, me want to cry.

The TRUs in Raleigh, NC and surrounding areas got their first shipment in earlier this week, and a couple of have been trickling in here and there. On a whim, I called the Raleigh TRU to ask if they had any in stock, and of course they didn't.

BUT, the lady told me that the TRU in Johnstown, PA had them, and a couple of people in Raleigh had them place phone orders.

I figured, why not give that a try? So I dropped by the Raleigh TRU on the way to work after lunch, and they were able to call the Johnstown TRU, who took my Credit Card info and will be shipping a Soundwave to my work address.

    Score!

I work at UPS, and let me tell you something you don't hear elsewhere...often times, when a package comes to you with a mangled box, it was mangled long before it got into the driver's hands, or it's final destination. Each UPS hub has miles upon miles of conveyer belts, and to get to your hub, it goes from a customer service counter employee's hand, to a sorter's hand, to a loaders hand, then an unloader, to another loader if it's going to another hub, or a pre-load employee to be loaded onto a truck. So a package can change hands anywhere from 3-6 times depending on where your package originated from and where it's going, and during that time mechanical "issues" such as packages jamming up against others, loaders/unloaders/sorters being careless, or just plain accidents(A 50 pound box falling on top of a smaller box...happens all the time and there's just nothing we can do about it.).

THIS. I used to work for Fed_ex and UPS unloading and loading and sadly when I worked there boxes got kicked around thrown like nobody's business. Problem is when you got 6 tired guys in a scorching warehouse, unloading a trailer, and sorting boxes for the driver, with only fans to keep cool, they tend to get the IDGAF attitude. If your box is dinged a bit be lucky, it could be crushed on one side..

I understand - and I don't mean to trash UPS or the delivery drivers. I just wanted to keep as few hands on it as possible.

Really, because of all the things you describe above, the fault lies with TRU and their crappy packaging.

That is crappy cop out statement. Packages should be in same condition as when they were accepted for shipment. UPS is the worse, Fedex comes in a close second. I worked for both UPS and Fedex years ago so I know how unloading works. Unloaded trucks at 3-4 am in morning. Boxes were thrown as no one really cared. I was on sorting them off conveyer belts so I saw this everyday.

I work on the load lines so I care about box conditions. I wouldn't want to receive a fucked up box either, but the reality is that when you take a box out to your Sup and your Sup just tells you to load it anyways there isn't anything I can do. I can't do a thing when I'm loading 350-450 PPH and packages are coming down so heavy that when I move a skate back pressure starts crushing boxes.

Anyways, as a loader I've had to load boxes that were already practically destroyed by the time it gets into my trailer. I can name a few companies off the top of my head who have pretty weak walled shipping boxes, and I often get those boxes in bad condition. I think the shipper also needs to understand reality of the parcel system and pack accordingly to prevent damage to the items inside.

THIS. If TRU packaged these properly, UPS, USPS, or whoever could toss these around however rough they want, and they would still arrive near perfect. Everyone who has bought from BBTS or TFSource knows this. I would have to say though, that in terms of mangling boxes, UPS seems to be the worst, followed by USPS, and then FedEx. The UPS distribution center here in Chicago is huge and I cringe to think about what happens to boxes in that place.

for the uninitiated, a lot of times you can find a podunk town TRU that not only has them in stock, but will ship to you. i have two places i call, one is in my hometown, and another is in the northwestern portion of the US.
states like Montana, Idaho, N/S Dakota, Utah, good places to check the non-capital city TRUs....just have a TRU rep check the computers for availability like above, then call those stores.
i have one SW for myself (thanks iconicon), and i just had my sister run over to the TRU in my hometown to pick up two (1 for for friend, 1 more for me). they still had more on the shelf, although this particular location wont ship.

How often a box changes hands makes a lot of difference too. For instance, since I live in Portland, we have a major hub that services a ton of other destinations, and being a bigger hub we get direct train lines to us. Say, you live in Beaverton, Oregon and you're getting a package from UPS...It gets packed and labeled in Wisconsin, then sorted and loaded, then it takes a direct train from Wisconsin to Portland, Oregon. From Portland, it gets unloaded, sorted, then loaded again to the Tualatin, Oregon center, where it is unloaded and then put on a truck for delivery. That's 8 people that package has changed hands from BBTS to Beaverton. But for me, who lives in east Portland, the Portland Hub ships directly to me, so it's going to change hands 5-6 times. That's less people that could potentially mess up my box.

I had an issue two weeks ago when my package was delivered at 3:30 PM instead of the usual 10:00 AM because a pre-loader(the workers who are responsible for loading trucks for delivery) must have either not scanned the box into the truck or misplaced it. Scared the crap out of me.

But yeah...BBTS boxes are goddamn fantastic. I load those boxes into trailers pretty frequently and they always stand the rigors of UPS shipping.

My last BBTS box had tiger track in it. It was smashed all to hell from UPS. It was kind of pushed into this layer of really giant bubblewrap.

It was fine, but a little scary. haha.

So theoretically, this means I should be able to call the Toys R Us fifty miles from my home and get them to ship me a Soundwave? How much did they charge you for shipping? Because I'm getting really tired of getting screwed over by Toys R Us.

I'm not sure I was charged shipping. The total was around $127.00
