Same for EL wire, ebay. WfC and FoC had good stories, right? Most of the comics don't have humans, right? How about a movie with no humans, not set on Earth! Earth is fucking boring, we've already seen it. The robots can still have alt modes from several planets, Beast Planet, Earth, Tron, Star Wars, etc. I know they're worried about the robots being too unrelatable, but it's a 3-story robot. News flash: I think Optimus Prime is cool; I don't want him to be my friend or Tamogachi, whatever. I don't want to play videogames or Cranium with him. Stop trying to make my robots human, goddammit, that's what I have GI Joes for!
I've always thought Hasbro should get into the animated DVD market, with specific 1 and a half hour movies created based on different times and stories in TF lore, the same way that DC and Marvel do. I don't think it'd work as well for the live action, because we want to see TF's blowing shit up, but without Mark Whalberg, Bay, Josh Duhamel, Shia, Fox, etc, the mainstream audiences don't get pulled in. Pacific Rim is a great example of why you still need a big name to help pull in people, you can't just have pretty robots punching things, at least not entirely. Also, humanizing the characters is what makes us relate to them, the characters in MTMTE and RID aren't just cold robots, they've got personalities that resemble human characteristics. Swerve runs a bar, Ratchet is a medic, those're the kinds of things we can relate to. the human characters will need to be there, it's just finding a way to make them work with the story.
So anybody here want a TFCC-exclusive Depthcharge or Alternators Nemesis Prime? Depthcharge just doesn't do it for me, and I've had a spare Nemesis in a factory-sealed box knocking around here for a couple years. I'll throw $60 out there for each but gimme an offer and let's see if we can't make a deal. The best part? You won't have to pay for shipping since we live in the same state.
I was actually curious about how it could be used, how flexible, how big, the power source, the wiring, if you had any info on it minsok...
I think humans could work too, but the franchise is rife with characters that are annoying, most unfortunately, which has turned a lot of fans off to the idea of including them. Daniel, Jan, Sam Witwicky, etc., they occur more often than not across the board and I don't know what it is about TFs that causes writers to write them badly. If it's not their personalities that annoy, it's the fact that they keep getting into trouble and distracting the main TF characters. Personally, Prime is a rare example of utilizing kid characters without making them irritating (although Miko got on my nerves for a while). They actually proved to be useful, weren't smart asses, and were overall likeable.
It always bothered me that they never fixed Bumblebee's voice. They have technology to travel through space, but can't fix a damaged voice box. I know they were trying to build character through it, and it was great for the first one, I just wish he could talk. Hey guys, of any of you that read any of the Transformers Comicbooks, which artist style Is your favorite? I've been looking (and drooling) at the art of Alex Milne in the MTME comics and I feel like his artwork is amazing. Some fans complain that his artwork is overdone on some characters and that it renders the characters into generic anime-esque bots. What's your take? My Reason for asking is because I'm trying to get better at drawing transformers, but I want them to be somewhere I between G1 style with simple shapes, an Alex milnes work of super detailed designs. So, aesthetically, what do you prefer? When is detail too much or is there a limit?
At the end of the day, any creative pursuit is a matter of style. Asking other people to define your style isn't going to get you anywhere. All of artists have their merits, except that guy who illustrated those wonky Galvatron issues, do you know who I mean?
^Ulisses something. God that was awful. Artists I like; Josh Burcham, Alex Milne, Nick Roche, Casey Coller, Guido, Don. The big players all have something to like about their art. I don't care for Livio Ramondelli's art as a story telling medium. But as a cover artist? Gorgeous
I really dig Lumpy's idea of 1 off dvd movies in the same vain of the DC animated movies that get released. And it doesn't have to be set in any specific universe. Just use designs of whatever toy looks cool. Like the Megatron pack-in comic used that stealth bomber Megatron and MP Starscream. What I really want to see is a 1 off Transformers Animated Movie. Either a new decepticon force comes into play like Deathsuarus or they break Megatron out of prison.
Well I guess I wasn't really asking for a way to influence my style. I'm comfortable with my own style but artwork prints and commissions are generally how I make a few extra bucks since I'm a poor student. Hehe. I had considered opening an etsy store to sell art, so I was trying to figure out a style to draw transformers in that I know fans would go for straight out the gate. I moreso just wish to be on the same skill level as Alex Milne. His use of mechanical shapes and perspective are awesome. But honestly, you're probably right. I should just draw them how I like to draw them. I'm not familiar with the artist you're talking about, But id probaly know if I saw it. Yes these artists are all so good!! I love the way they draw. Each of them have their own unique look. Someday I want to be that good.
Alex Milne is the Art God. I can spend hours studying the details of his work, come back later and see something that I missed. Josh Perez does some awesome work too. Welcome to the Land of Disenchantment board, Fierce!
^This. I find his art hard to follow because of the panel breaks, but he's not a bad artist per se. It's just that his style doesn't lend itself to sequential art very well. Gabrielle dell'Otto over at Marvel had the same problem but he looks to be improving so who knows.
Welcome man! make sure to check out the link in my sig about our next meetup, then you can come meet some of us in person, if you'd like.
That's that shit. Don't emulate this guy. I think his style is draw every part of the robot individually without looking to make sure it all makes a well-proportioned whole. My preorder thru BBTS is scheduled to arrive tomorrow! UPS came at 5 for Hexatron.
God, I forgot about that... he's like the Rob Liefeld of Transformers... that cover is terrible... and nice! He looks so massive, i can't wait to get him in hand. only thing i wish is that he had more paint apps, instead of stickers, but oh well.
