To avoid bringing up a zombie thread, (the last post was in February) I thought I'd make a new post.

All the words we've come to know in Transformers Prime so far:

1- "Bravado", from S02E18 - New Recruit, which means A bold manner or a show of boldness intended to impress or intimidate.
2- "Pontificating" from S02E13 - Triangulation. As in "Pontificate" which means The office or term of office of a pontiff or "Pontify" [ˈpɒntɪˌfaɪ] to speak or behave in a pompous or dogmatic manner. Now "Pontificating" would be To express opinions or judgments in a dogmatic way.
3- "Paramount" from S02E12 - Tunnel Vision. Which means: chief in importance or impact; supreme; preeminent: a point of paramount significance.
4- "Zenith" from S01E23 - One Shall Fall. The point of culmination; the peak. EG: the zenith of her career.
5- Tribunal from S2EP9 'Grill'. Which means... tri·bu·nal (tr-bynl, tr-) n. A seat or court of justice.
6- Season 2, episode 40: "Triage" tri·age [tree-ahzh] Show IPA noun, adjective, verb, tri·aged, tri·ag·ing.noun the determination of priorities for action in an emergency.
7- "transcending physical form" in "One Shall Rise, Part 1" tran'sen-dun(t)s The state of excelling, surpassing or going beyond usual limits
8- "Apex" Season 2, episode 39 "Triangulation" apex (ˈeɪpɛks) — n , pl apexes , apices. a pinnacle or high point, as of a career, etc
9- Harbinger. (first said in Season 1 episode 20 "Partners") Noun: Anything that foreshadows a future event; omen; sign: Frost is a harbinger of winter. Also: A person sent in advance of troops, a royal train, etc., to provide or secure lodgings and other accommodations.
10- From 'Out of the Past': idiosyncrasy: A structural or behavioral characteristic peculiar to an individual or group.
11- "Dam-o-cles" Season 2 episode 45, "The Human Factor" of Greek origin - A legendary courtier who extravagantly praised the happiness of Dionysius I, ruler of Syracuse. To show him how precarious this happiness was, Dionysius seated him at a banquet with a sword hung by a single hair over his head
12- "Interlopers!" Noun: A person who becomes involved in a place or situation where they are not wanted or are considered not to belong. Also a synonym for intruder
13- "convalesce" Season 1 Episode 3, Darkness Rising Pt 3: Recover one's health and strength over a period of time after an illness or operation.
14- Dismemberment "Torn limb from limb" or 'torn to pieces' incidentally.

There obviously has been some new words brought up in Season 3.

EG. The word Optimus used to tell the Wreckers to investigate the mine in the episode "Evolution." I cannot for the life of me remember the word or it's pronunciation let alone it's meaning.

The only words I've "come to know" from TFP are zenith and idiosyncrasy.

The word your thinking of in Evolution is "Reconnoiter" which is the actual word people mean when they use the shorthand "Recon", it means to scout and secure the immediate area.

reconnoiter is the word you are looking for. Means to gather information in a military sense. To scout. The root of the word recon.

Before the show I had never seen the word Triage before.

And unti now I didn't know there was a myth behind the name Damocles.

    The rest I knew.

Still I think it's great that the show is exposing children to varying voacbulary. :)

I got pontificating, harbinger and zenith from TFP. Granted, I don't really use the latter two, but pontificate has become a fast favourite :D

It just means Preach your opinion.
Zenith is the apex or top of something.

I knew all those words already before TFP used them. But I suppose it's nice the show had some educational value for other viewers.

Paramount because I thought it was just a creative studio name, zenith, idiosyncrasy, and progeny.

I didn't know that Paramount was a real word. I have to give Prime credit where it's due.

Knew all of them, but that's mostly because I'm a writer and read too much for my own good, as well.

To pontificate is to preach down at someone. Basically, in a know-it-all stuck-up manner

The root word, pontiff is a position of high priest or a pope in the Roman Catholic church. When you think about these people, you might conjure the idea of someone behind a pulpit preaching about the dangers of sin etc.

    Absolutely none.
Seriously, I knew these words before Transformers Prime was even a blip on the Radar.
Hell, Frank Welker (You know, the voice of Megatron, Soundwave, Ravage, Among others) himself used the word "Pontificate" during his tenure as Nibbler on Futurama "I can do more than talk. I can pontificate!" (Now try hearing Prime Megatron without hearing bits of Welker's Nibbler Voice poking through).
Wait-wait-wait wait, you didn't know the word "Dismemberment" before Transformers Prime? What kind of Transformers fan are you? Unicron used that word in the '86 film when speaking to Megatron before reformatting him into Galvatron.
