Remember that long, sharp, shiny rod Bee used to stab the Big M? I think a certain smokey screen was the one that, i dunno, brought it into play.

And I'm sure it would've been a big help if the moron decided to tell anyone about it being there beforehand. Same goes for when he could've given Optimus the Phase Shifter and kept him from being almost killed.

...Yes, this entire conflict could've been over by now if he had just done that.

But no, he just has to have his signature weapon and all that bullshit.

Even if Smokey had told the others about the Star Saber being there, he still would've been the one to go and get it since he has the phase shifter so it's all a mute point. And as for not giving the shifter to Optimus, I'm sure Smokey didn't know that Prime was about to almost be killed in the base's destruction. Besides, he more than made up for his mistake by bringing Prime back to life later with the Forge.

On a side note, you seem to have an awful lot of hatred for a fictional character don't you think?

And you guys seem to have a lot of love for a character that really doesn't deserve it in the long run.

That, and he's the biggest Mary Sue I've seen since Drift. I thought people hated those?

I honestly never liked using that equivalent of the phrase.

Where there is "Smoke"screen, there is "fire"decals? I've thought about this too. What if he is Rodimus and this has all been a smokescreen? I know it's a stretch at this point, but.....

People are expectantly sticklers for the hot shot characters. It's inevitable.

Though I entirely agree with you.

I think he could be the next Prime...... SOMEDAY. On a day very far removed from now. Perhaps after the Earth's sun has winked out.

God, I hope not. Ever since he started talking about his own "Destiny", like he had a fragging clue what he was really destined for, instantly made me almost hate him, because i knew what (and WHO) he represented, and there's no TF character i've hated more than Hot Rod, 'cept maybe Energon Starscream, the aft-licking sycophant (god, i hated that encarnation of Screamer), heh, then again, Energon was horrible all round.

I'm guessing the writers realised that fact when they had Smokescreen turn down the Matrix, because he's too young and immature.

Sure, Orion Pax was relatively young when he was named Prime, but at least he wasn't so totally self-absorbed that he thought he alone would turn the tide of every battle he was in.

I gotta agree with everyone whose equating SmokeScreen with HotRod. I never cared for HotRod becoming a Prime. The young, unpredictable, irresponsible take chances hero becoming a leader is overly cliche in my opinion and equally unbelievable. I believe a person being spurred to heroism is more likely than a complete change in their personality and a sudden gain in tactical knowledge and other aspects of leadership. Though I won't say that my opinions a popular one, it's just my opinion.

The fact that he accepted his rookie status, stopped talking about how great he was, and actually turned down the Prime title is enough development for me. Making him a Prime would irritate me bc it would confirm his "destiny" junk.

Maybe his destiny was to turn down being a Prime?

It might be interesting to spend a little time with him where he considers that he might've given up his destiny and wonders just who he is now. Does he regret what might've been?

Personaly he reminds me of those officers in WW1 and WW2 who were just given the position on family grounds and were inept and almost and some times did get there men killed. making Smokescreen a Prime could have been the worst decision Optimus had made just because Orion made a good Prime dose not meen Smokescreen would to.

Something to the people saying that Optimus chose Smokescreen or that any Autobot could be chosen and such:
Imo ,i strongly believe that the Matrix chooses a certain individual(Autobot) that finds him/her as the one that posseses certain qualities in order to wield it.

Optimus did not choose Smokescreen himself and the Matrix didn't choose him because his was "nearby". The fact that he was picked means that he's got what it takes to be a Prime, period, and it wasn't a coincidence(again my opinion).

As for the topic at hand, while i would love to see Smokescreen taking over in the movie i think that this consept is already "broken" a bit. Having him turn the offer and rebuilding Prime then having OP, let's say, mentoring him or giving him the Matrix while he sticks around as Orion Pax doesn't cut it for me.
I'm one of the few that actually is a fan of the G1 season 3 era and Rodimus's reign and i liked it for the way it was implemented. He was the one that everyone expected the least plus he was thrown in a world of hell the moment he became a Prime. Having to cope for these kinds of situations makes up for some good storytelling, if hanled right, imo. So right now i dodn't think something like that could work in Prime.
Still i would like them to give it a try and prove me wrong but i believe that a few "references" regarding the incident is what we'll get and that's it.
