With all those crushed up cars and whatnot, I'm starting to wonder if Hong Kong will end up in the same state as Chicago.
I'm calling it now, that upside down truck is Ultra Magnus... and all of the smashed up cars are stunticons... but im not sure who the smashed up red car could be...cliffjumper? and im also not sure about the blue crane... maybe Voldemort? Too many robots!!!
the only problem i have with the crushed car setup is that they all have the wheeled platforms under them and the tipped truck and trailer is on another trailer lol. I hope that if they are left like this, they remember to edit that stuff out and not leave it like they did in DOTM with the wreckers racing past the camera rig lol
No doubt CGI will be used to make the distant backgrounds more like Hong Kong. They might pile up rubble to hide the trailers that those cars are piled on. FWIW, I believe many if not all the wrecked cars used in movies like this are from flood-damage claims. Cheap and plentiful.
Notice that those trailers ARE the rubble. Also, with basic editing you won't need that much CGI. Combine Hong Kong location footage, Detroit stunt and pyrotechnics shots, CGI robots. You don't really need to make a digital Hong Kong.
