Just got this from the AGC convention in Hong Kong. Immediately fiddled with it and took pics. I was too impatient to apply the stickers, though.

Retail price was 1,399 HKD or around 175 USD, exactly the same price as the Hasbro MP Soundwave here. The Kre-Os are free. If I arrived an hour early, I would have gotten an SDCC Bruticus as a freebie instead, but they ran out when I got there. This was the only thing that bummed me out about this purchase, though.

One of the things that are cool about this version is the packaging. It's not only pretty and perfect for MIB/MISB display (the outer cardboard is a sleeve that slides out), but also functional. The figure can be repacked securely, unlike with the Hasbro version.

I'm not gonna bother with these decoys, lol.

It's all about the chrome, baby. The chrome thighs and face are a must for me.

By the way, all his sound clips are in English, and same as the ones on the Hasbro release.

Scales best with WST, minicon, and micromaster figures, IMO.

Best configuration I can come up with.

Yeah, legends-scaled figures go well with this guy too :)

Final thoughts? As I said, for me, this version is the definitive Generations Metroplex. Here in HK, the Hasbro version is priced at 999 HKD and the Takara at 1,199 HK. For an additional 400 HKD or around 50 USD more, I got the chrome, the extra gun, the decoys, and superb packaging (and some Kre-Os)--well worth it in my book. I definitely recommend getting this or the SDCC version.

By the way, I apologize for the grainy pics, my flat has bad lighting so I had to use 800 ISO.

This this really is the best version.

It is the shipping that is killer. I'm ok with $50 more, just not another $120 in shipping.

Great to hear that he has the english clips!

Yes man, I live in HK. You asked me the same question with a PM a couple of months back and I replied with another question, but you never replied back :)

Those are Encore Fort Max's. I bought a set of repro black guns for Brave Max, and that is what FM is holding in his left hand.

Sorry must have been a memory lapse.

Anyhow I like the HK version but will probably get from RK as I don't have time to go to ACG.

I think those red guns are begging for a reprolabels set to allow them to look like skyscrapers.

Yeah, it may be better to order it from RK. Small price difference, and it's a bitch to move it from the Convention center to anywhere.

Wow, they gave SDCC Bruticus away as a freebie? How many of those did they have on hand?!

Thanks a lot for the detailed pics by the way. I'm tempted to just give up on my hunt for the SDCC one and just settle for the ACG Con one that's almost 90% the same...

So are the only differences to the SDCC one the decoys and an SDCC sticker? Boxes even look identical

Yeah, the knees don't bend that way, too bad, but I do understand why the designers decided not to do it.

By the way, in terms of build quality, this figure is top notch. I won't speak for the Hasbro release (but I'm pretty sure they're pretty much the same), but this version has dense, solid plastic on everything except Scamper and the missiles, the paint apps are nicely applied, and there's no apparent QC issues. I decided to clarify this after reading of some bothersome issues from the TRU MP Soundwave thread.

Not sure how many they had. The convention opened at 10am and I got there at around 11, but I only got served at around 12 because of the queue. By the time I got to order, they already ran out of Bruticus and the HISS Tank, and I wasn't interested in the figures in the middle.

By the way, for a purchase of 3,000 HKD the freebie was the SDCC Avengers Helicarrier. I was tempted to buy two Metroplexes and a couple of deluxes to get it, but I could not figure out how I would take the loot home. :)

Thanks bchorean and archieboy. That is a really cool deal, although it's kinda surprising that Hasbro would actually give these SDCC exclusives away.

so other than the clones, it's literally an exact copy of the SDCC Exclusive, even the box. it's really interesting.

and to see I was wrong about it having the retail stickers instead of the metallic stickers is awesome!
