Yea, I think they really shot themselves in the foot with that.
I don't think Takara's price is bad, but considering you need to pay an extra 60+ bucks for each set of extra minions, it ends up being more than twice the price of the Hasbro version. Kinda silly.

Not likely. He used Nailpolish remover, it likely thinned the paint or discolored the plastic. Always use alcohol to remove shit, never nailpolish remover.

 

I think if they would've went with a head that could switch the colors of the visor like MP Grimlock, BOOM, both cartoon version and toy version crowds satisfied.

 

So, I felt abit risky today and decided to crack open my Takaras feet in anticipation of my hasbro one arriving. I plan to swap heads, but also found out a way to switch the unpainted plastic storage flaps on the insides to the shiny silver Takara ones. Just simply remove all six screws, 4 on top, 6 on bottom, then pull them apart. Just simply twist that flap hinge back and forth and wiggle it out, and swap them out on the hasbro by doing the same. It should look like this:

 

it wont undo the damage to the paint but it should take the swirly greyish residue off so its not so noticable...

 

I'm confused. If you're going to have both versions, why are you swapping the heads and the storage flaps? Why not just continue to display your Takara one as is?

 

Because my Takara one is all messed up, chrome chipped, some other scratches, etc. So I plan to have the Hasbro with Takara Pieces on my display shelf, and my other one for more play and to keep in cassette deck mode. Plus I need the other cassettes.

Yes, exactly. Plus the painted diecast feet are all scratched to heck, and I might just switch feet and buttons instead. I dunno really lol.

 

I don't think I've seen a comparo between the Takara and Hasbro boxes, so here is an unfortunately blurry pic. It was late and I guess I wasn't steady, sorry. Anyways, I think this is why they aren't stocking the shelves in most places. The box is simply too massive! I have a Honda Civic hatch and it took up the entire floorboard on my passenger side.  

 

I expected the yellow eyes to be just fine like they were on the original G1 toy but instead of yellow they're clear yellow plastic and just don't stand out at all. They should have used a metallic gold or painted yellow. It's a shame his eyes just look dead.

 

Yeah, exactly. It's like the opposite of MP-10, where the Takara version has the dead looking eyes. Hasbro should have taken the lesson from that, and just painted the eyes.

 

I guess I am just not as nitpicky. The Hasbro version with all the cassettes and yellow eyes is probably the best TF toy ever released hands down. For the price, the engineering and detail that has gone into these figures and the volume of product you get is astounding. I played with Rumble and Ravage last night and I have no complaints. They are simply amazing. For the $300+ that I would have had to shell out to get all this package offers in Takara's release, yes, I would be slightly disappointed in the overall quality, but taking into account the set as a whole, it is the pinnacle of what Transformers should be.

 

There are several tear-downs of his head posted, you can easily paint either the eye-piece or the plastic over it.

 

I'm completely amazed at how much much needs to be done to transform Soundwave into a box.

 

Putting it out despite it being a long shot: I managed to break one of the fins on Laserbeak's back due to the joint getting stuck, so I'm looking to get a new MP Laserbeak. PM me if you have one to sell!
