At this point in time do you consider the New 52 a good or bad thing. Would you have preferred it to never happen and continue with the regular continuity or do you like the sort of Reboot.

There are some cons to it like figuring what has to be retcon but thats just comics in general but hey i think the pros out weigh the cons mostly because Bruce Wayne is the only Batman again and Dick Grayson is back as Nightwing. (I can not describe how much i hate Dick Grayson as Batman the only other person who i can enjoy as Batman is Terry McGinnis and thats only because its a future Batman) So yeah basically thats the selling point to me which is why i think the New 52 is a good thing.

Well, this a can of worms. I'm sure TB and SS will have much to say, lol.

Myself, I'm indifferent. I'm sure there is plenty of crap from it, but the stuff I've chosen to read has been pretty damn good. I understand why they did it, but how they went about it left a lot to be desired. In the end, what can you say other than comic books are a dying market, and things like this are just symptomatic of that.

I voted "Good" because, on the whole, I've enjoyed more of the New 52 than I've actively disliked. Are there parts of the old continuity that I miss? Sure. But do I also really enjoy a lot of what we've got now? Yes.

Ya see, there's the thing. DC's had at least four "regular continuities", any one of which can apply depending upon who you ask. For any new readers starting with the New 52, that's their regular continuity. This, coupled with the fact that the New 52 is still selling moderately well, support the fact that DC's not going to drastically reboot everything back to the pre-New 52 continuity. It's high time people start accepting that and move on.

There are some books I like, some I don't. But I don't think it matters anyway because sales are falling again and they are obviously setting up another semi reboot. But I will say honestly most story lines from both companies have become event of the month. So I'm getting burnt out on comics in general. My pull list is dropping quickly and I've found myself spending more money on novels. I get a better plot and it seems more satisfying. It mostly all fights, and the same thing over and over. I just don't care about the characters much anymore. They aren't doing anything to keep me interested. There are a few titles here and there holding my interest, but over all it just seems to be more of the same. Everything is dark and they are all becoming anti heroes. I just don't find them fun anymore. They can only fight to prevent the end of the world so many times. Honestly I'd rather see a character struggling to balance college, a job, and being a superhero again.

Some of its been good; Wonder Woman and Supergirl, World's Finest has been pretty awesome and Detective Comic's Batman and Action Comic's Superman were good. Aquaman was probably one of the best.

All in all though, it's been pretty average.

Some of it is good, and some of it isn't. The same could be said for the Pre-Flashpoint DCU.

I put bad. The idea had so much potential and they just botched it. I am reading about half the DC titles I was before the new 52 and I am reading less than 25% from my original purchases when it started.

Currently I have 4 DC books on pull. All Star Western, Batman, Batman Inc, and World's Finest. I dropped all GL books, there is no Booster Gold, I stopped Justice League. Action Comics got the ax recently. Superman titles are a mess.

If they would have gotten newer and younger talent, it would have been better. But as it stood, they got old talent which brought the same old stories.

I always, ALWAYS prefer continuity over using a restart button. DC claimed that they couldn't continue writing stories in the established universe -pre new52- but they're pretty much telling the same stories they were telling 5-10-15 years ago. I was reading about 10 titles before the reboot, now I'm reading two, Earth-2 and Aquaman. DC feels a lot like Image did in the 90's. Pretty colors with NO substance. Oh, and if you couldn't tell, I voted BAD.

As with previous iterations of the DC universe, there have been both good and bad/average books, was it necessary to reset continuity to tell the good stories? probably not but I'm not losing much sleep over it. (sucks for the regualr readers though)

The only part of the new 52 that bugs me is Batman, form what I understand, basically most of his stories happened, but in a much shorter amount of time. So he had like 5 sidekicks in only a few years, which makes no sense but Comicbook logic I guess.

    So indifferent I guess

It's not lack of newer and younger talent that should be the concern - it should be whether the creators are talented. Look at Mark Waid, he's been around a long time - and he's writing some of the best Daredevil stories in quite some time - and he wanted to write Superman so badly!

I will have to agree with that since now he been active for around six years by this point and yet he has gone threw four Robins and i think there is still the whole Dick was Batman happened thing in existence. But that does make everything seemed way to cluttered but hey it will be matter of time till they change that again as long as Bruce Wayne is Batman ill take it >.<

Sorry, I can't take anything you say seriously anymore.

As a whole, I feel indifferent towards the New 52. As I've stated to many comic shop owners, it cheeses me that they write most of the runs purely for TPBs so they span a story arc over 6 issues which is rather annoying. that is not to say that I don't enjoy the titles, but i just miss the older writing of the SA/BA where each issue was a new story.

Here's a list of the runs that I believe have great writing, stories and art:
    -Justice League Dark
    -Supergirl
    -Wonder Woman
    -Batwoman
    -Batgirl
    -Red Lantern Corps

I was a big fan of the Pre-New 52 Earth 2 stories such as the JSA and Power Girl, and decided to give Earth 2 and Worlds Finest a try, but they have proved to be a constant disappointment. Earth 2 keeps switching between character stories and hasn't established a main story arc so when you return to a character's story after 2 issues or so, it's like wtf was even going on with them? Being a long time fan of Power Girl, I wanted to like World's Finest so badly, but they wrote Kara as too much "billionaire ho" and pretty much left out her serious business, old school attitude in favor. It's taken 14 issues to get one great story so at this point I have pretty much nil to little faith in it and only read the issues for Helena/Huntress now. Hoping this run is cancelled and is rebooted with competent writers that know the dynamics of PG and what she's all about, because at this point thats the only way to save her rep.

There are some good books out now, but on the whole I think we've lost way more than we've gained out of the reboot.

While I can't say that I like everything that's come out of the New 52, I think for the most part it's been good.

It seems to me from what I've read, across the board, the vast majority of DC characters have lost a lot of the nobility and moral upstanding nature they had before the reboot. Superman in particular comes to mind, but Captain Marvel/Shazam is another good example. Wonder Woman as well.

And then there are all the characters that are gone entirely. Where's Wally West and Donna Troy? And so much for all the children and grandchildren of the Justice Society. They're gone too. Is the current Earth-2 book really so good that it justifies tossing out all those characters and undoing decades of character development with Jay Garrick, Alan Scott, et al? I don't think so.

Nope the old JSA comics blow away anything that happened in the Earth 2 comic.
