i think the paint chipping is due to too much paint to begin with. comparing the two, the paint on these unofficial releases is thicker. i suspect they repainted the rejects. not sure if clear will help or just delay the inevitable. that being said. out fo box, the one i opened looks better than my official TT paintwise.
I had to chop most of what is inside the chest out to get the chest more proportionate so no transformation. I'm intrigued in how TT will do a potental Sunny.....after working on this I can only surmise they will use a fake (smaller) chest.....or it'll collapse in some ingenious way.
For those that purchased off of Taobao through Taobaoring - about how long does it take from the time of payment to the purchase actually being made?
It was pretty fast, day or two? Took them about a week to get it in hand, and sent me pics. Then I made final payment and it was here in like 5 more days after that.

Final? It was whatever shipping choice I chose was. I think it was like close to $20? The whole thing was right around $50 with tax and paypal charges etc. Maybe a few bucks more or less.

Just received my KO Sideswipe from Uncle Billy, and I have to say, I'm impressed. The paint job is as good as on my original Takara version, and all the joints are tight. Minor problems/flaws: - The head is a tiny bit loose in its side-to-side movement. - I had to really force some of the transformation points, possibly because the paint was still sticky when it was assembled. - "Lamborgfhri Cantach". Ha. - The torso assembly doesn't fit together as well as the original. It fits, but at the cost of either the front or back not sitting entirely flush. (This fits perfectly on the original.) - The loin-cloth piece doesn't fit flush against his groin (not a problem with the original). - The face is really - what is it the cool kids say? - "derpy"? I know some people say they prefer this face to that of the original, but the Takara face is much more fitting of the character, with the eyes matching the shape they have in the cartoon. It's clearly from the Tigertrack mould, but seems more elongated somehow - very horsey. All in all, though, it is an incredibly high-quality knock-off. It is clearly a knock-off, though, and not a factory second or reject: once you start comparing it to an original in detail, you notice lots of minor differences and mould-copy roughness: the size of the circle on the inner bicep, the definition of the circles on the upper arms, different types of plastic used throughout, the inability of the leg-filler pieces to bend all the way out so that they need holding to clip them in place - all very minor stuff, however.
Just throwing this out there: I'm currently looking for a spare missile launcher; either from the KO release of Sideswipe, or (preferentially) the KO of Tiger Track. If anyone is buying these guys for custom fodder and would consider parting with the accompanying missile launchers, please PM me.
The fandom likes dissing the official companies and totally hates spending another set of bucks for something of good quality.
The official companies like to watch the prices of popular items rise to double the original price and no one wants to pay extra for a product with known QC issues or for a base for customizing.
Me too. Breakdown will be a lot easier to make if a lot of the parts are already white. Especially the unpainted plastic parts.
just got this guy....he is very solid,joints r all tight...i dont have any paint issus,no bleeding anywhere.....some paint chipping during the first transformation but after i checked his alt mode again i didnt find from where the fell from....my only issue is that he doesnt roll...but for less than half the price of the original i suggest u get this one instead....also i got him from taobaoring and i strongly recommend using them

Yes, I agree. But since the likelihood of a MP Menasor is pretty slim, this will do. Besides, he won't actually be Breakdown on my shelf. He'll be Sideswipe painted up like Breakdown from the episode "Masquerade".
