Although I'm disappointed that I couldn't get an MP Soundwave today, I have to say that the staff of the Toys R Us in Westland, Michigan were exceptional. I was able to order an Acid Storm from the store and they gave me free shipping to my house. I even offered to pick it up from the store and she still gave me free shipping to my house. You can't beat that. The web site sucks though, as on the mobile version, it showed Soundwave was available to ship to home, but it wouldn't let me add it to my cart. It was like that for over an hour. Better luck next time I guess.

    Got my tracking number.

This is my first TF since 1988 (Powermaster Optimus Prime), by the way.

    Irritated.

I was one of the few people who were able to order Soundwave on eBay when it went up. I of course had my order canceled. I of course missed out today.

I emailed customer service today after missing out today and received a canned response:

    Dear Grant,

Thank you for contacting Toys "R" Us on eBay Support regarding the Soundwave.

Some items sell out quickly and may be removed from the site. At this time, I would like to suggest periodically checking back on the website for this item, as we will update the site if we offer the item for sale again. I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, and I appreciate your interest in shopping with us.

Thank you again for contacting Toys "R" Us on eBay Support.

    Sincerely,

    Mary

So I guess the answer is to periodically check. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

Oh well, hope we see more stock in August like has been said.

very surprised that acid storm sold out as he did, a look back to the old ebay listings on TRU confirmed that he was still available for a long period of time when soundwave sold out ultra fast. I guess in desperate attempts to secure soundwave many people just decided to grab on to something and snatched acidstorm instead. I would have as well if I knew he was going to be sold out as well, well's hoping that the august shipment will have acidstorm in droves like thundercracker.

I wish I'd either woken up 5 min earlier, or an hour later. Instead, I woke up less than a minute after batch 2 sold out. Before the add to cart button had even disappeared. That was the most infuriating thing. I turned on my laptop, refreshed the page, and saw add to cart. I thought I got lucky, thought I could just get it done with and back to bed. Instead, I ended up wasting the next 3 or 4 hours, waiting for a 3rd batch that never came, and my night of almost no sleep was pointless, because TRU can't just freaking stick to the time they say!

You really want to affect this? Get a bunch of people together. Create some fake email addresses. Then create some fake eBay accounts.

Buy ALL the scalper MPs on eBay. Buy Nows and Auctions. Make sure you win. Delay three days on paying. Tell them you're waiting on a paycheck, whatever. Wait a few more days. Let the negative equity burn the scalper fucks, at least for a little while. Evaporate.

    Rinse and repeat, every relist.

I have been quite entertained by the TRU insanity. LOL :D

I never saw Masterpiece Optimus Prime at my TRU, and I was going to start buying the Masterpiece line. So since he was never found (and others were also out of luck in getting him at their TRU's), I said "Piss off" to the Masterpiece line. It isn't worth the trouble, nor the hassle. Hell, most of the figures are import only...so there's another headache which I won't bother to talk about here.

Bottom line: I speak with my wallet. If TRU wants to play games and have stores with zero (or next to zero) Masterpieces, then fine. I just won't purchase those figures, even if your store is jammed full of them.

I had a good night's sleep last night, and no stress today. Most of you here cannot say the same. lol But hey! You have a toy and I don't. I'm not much of a Man-Child I guess. :)

I don't know why people don't blame Hasbro. It's not like they couldn't have made enough to keep it going, or to meet demand. Instead, they never send out enough to meet demand on the things people want the most.

Hasbro has a hand in always making sure they reboot Transformers after 3 seasons of each new show.

Hasbro makes sure to release waves at the end of the lifecycle of a particular line of toys, that stores don't even get the chance to order them, because Hasbro keeps filling waves of figures with shelfwarmers.

Point is, while everyone here is jumping on TRU's back, why don't you go after your precious Hasbro?

Hasbro is the reason I jumped out of the TF game. I just bought MP Soundwave for the heck of it, but I am in no way interested in Hasbro and the TF brand, because every 3 years, there will be another Optimus Prime and company taking on another Megatron, instead of coming up with one long story that spans LOTS of seasons.

In other words, they care about money through rebooting, than building a good story that spans 4+ seasons. They care to make Autobot teams a 5-member team now, instead of focusing on episodes that were fun, that featured lots of Autobots.

They suck at getting toys into the hands of EVERYONE. That's not TRU's fault. Blame Hasblo.

No. If anything it's still equal blame - Hasbro for giving them the exclusives but TRU could put a "one-per-person" rule on items they KNOW are going to be hot on launch day. They also let people buy whole shipments right out of the warehouse.

It's fine for their profit margins now, but it's HORRIBLE consumer goodwill.

    Err...

First off, most cartoons only last a handful of seasons because they're largely meant for kids, and the prevailing thought is that kids will grow up and move on in that timeframe, so time to reboot. I think Hasbro's done a pretty good job making sure there's some form of TF on tv most of the time.

Also, I know there are a few hard to get items, particularly at the end of lines, but man TFs have to be one of the least frustrating kinds of toys to collect. I can only remember a handful of toys in the last few years that weren't exclusives that were particularly hard to find, and I can't say the same for comic book lines or GI Joes.

We'll have to see if they make enough to satisfy demand this time around, when it goes to wider release. But the last thing they want to do is make too many of them. Even 1st version Masterpiece Prime sat on some shelves for a while.

It was an odd day to say the least. I happened to wake up in the middle of the night, and figured I'd just check to see if the Soundwaves were available on line. Dumb luck led to me actually getting my order in. I received my shipping notification this afternoon. The quick shipping turn around was a welcome surprise. Those of us lucky enough to get the orders in appear to be getting decent service.

This morning I went down to my local TRU to see if I could scoop up an Acid Storm, there were a couple other collectors there, and no Masterpiece items. The stocking in my area is horrid, I haven't seen a single 2012-2013 generations voyager, or anything beyond mainline and generations first waves since animated, so I was prepared to be disappointed. However, the TRU person answering the massive wave of phone calls that they were receiving informed us that neither my local Toys R' Us, nor any in the immediate area were eligible to carry Masterpiece Transformers.

This information lined up with information that came out later from various people who had spoken to TRU representatives. The story that this was a limited release to coincide with Comic Con and there would be another release in August makes sense, but it just doesn't line up with what they told us about this.

Had TRU billed this as a limited release, there would have been a lot less confusion, and lot less strain on their customer service today. (I called a few stores, just poking around, and you could hear all their phones going berserk in the background). However the disappointment would have remained.

I have to assume that somewhere along the chain in Hasbro or TRU there is reason and rational behind keeping these high end releases limited, and that is ok. Of course, we wish there were more available, but I'd rather we get some than none at all.

The communication breakdown between Hasbro and TRU and the customers, as well as, in my experience, TRU and its outlets, is the real problem. I think the bottom line reason for it is that TRU is a warehouse toy store, and their main demographic is families. They truly aren't equipped to handle high end collectibles. I have nothing against any of the TRU employees I've ever dealt with. They have all always been as helpful as possible, but you can tell that they don't get enough information to handle a situation like this.

It just doesn't seem like TRU stores are the best way for Hasbro to go about these releases. I think running through online toy retailers would really benefit Hasbro. The framework is already in place at those retailers for this to run a lot more smoothly.

Sucks for all the folks who were disappointed today.

The problem is that capitalism encourages caring about one of those things, and strongly discourages giving a flying frak about the other.

What sucks is that they would have had my money for both Acid Storm and Soundwave, and now I'm going to make it my business to find two that fell off a truck.

This is why I always just import the Takara releases.

Although I definitely understand that not everyone can afford to do that (I haven't officially totaled up my spendings on Soundwave, Rumble & Ravage, and Frenzy & Buzzsaw with shipping and everything... I'm too scared lol).

It's frustrating that they don't make more of these. I know I never saw MP-10 in a Toys R Us store (it was one of those "I'll buy it if I see it" things, but I ended up paying close to ~$170 for it on eBay a few months ago and I'm glad I did, it's awesome).

Hopefully in a few months everyone will be able to get theirs. Soundwave and his cassettes truly are masterpieces.

About the discussion of 3 seasons max for kid shows then how the hell do you explain (sorry for going OT) Spongebob Squarepants, that stupid show has been going for 10+ years and its still on,so don't tell me Hasbro has to reboot every 3 years. And about TRU all I can say is they could care less about making fan's happy, they only just care about getting your money.
