Had a manager tell me they won't know when they get it until its in store wtf

 

I truly dislike this time of year.

 

Called 2 different disctrics here in south florida, both told me that no stores anywhere have them. said maybe 2-3 weeks.

 

Collectors who think like that are a small number of consumers when you look at everyone who would be interested in buying these toys. I have the original Takara Starscream, so I have no interest in Acid Storm, but I would love to have Soundwave.

Plus, Acid Storm is a fairly low-level G1 character compared to Soundwave. Any TF fan would realize that Soundwave would be more popular.

You also have to look at the possibility that there may be more AS figures produced than Soundwave, because it's a retool of an existing figure rather than a new one.

 

I checked at around 5:20 am ct on my phone it was in stock and by the time I got to the kitchen and refreshed the page it was already sold out.

 

My store said the same thing. Customer Service lady was super nice and tried to find info for me, but she wasn't even able to check for stock in other area stores.

She couldn't understand why the website would list them at such an odd time.

 

I still have trouble with this mentality. How is this any different than the hundreds of people selling things for more than their original retail price right here in the Junkion Exchange? If reselling an item for higher than it's MSRP is so evil and wrong, then I should be able to find a Masterpiece Starscream for $50. Or a mint '70's Cuda for a couple grand for that matter.

And once again, that attitude right there is why this type of shit will never change. As long as people are willing to explain away TRU's shitty treatment of their customers, and hand them 120 bucks for it, they have absolutely no reason to give a shit about us.

I understand your assumption that people are small, and insignificant, and have no power to effect change.... That's pretty much how every dictator in history rose to power. People have a lot more strength in numbers than your attitude gives them credit for, unfortunately so many people SHARE that attitude that it will never matter, since most couldn't be bothered to inconvenience themselves for three seconds enough to actually effect change. They'd rather just complain about it, but do nothing.

That's the beauty of capitalism. You can be an absolutely disgusting, reprehensible, greedy, profiteering sack of shit and still make BANK! Gods bless America, and Gods bless Hasbro.

Think about it this way. If enough people are trying to order this product that over 900 sold out in less than an hour at 4am, how many do you think DIDN'T GET ONE?
A lot more, i.e. enough that if they actually pooled together and stopped buying TRU they would take notice.

I caved and went to the Niles, Ohio store. Nothing, no tags, and they claimed to have not gotten any in. I called Boardman, same thing. All pretty much what TFX was saying which means at least the associates were being honest instead of saying anything.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART OF MY TRIP, I arrived at the Niles TRU at 10am on the dot and to my surprise four other guys walked along with me to the TF section. One said the Times Square store was selling them 2 weeks ago and that his sister bought two from a Virginia store yesterday. Then MP Prime came up in the conversation after the previous gentleman left and needless to say, he was accused of buying up most of the MP Primes in Niles and putting them on ebay for $300... each. So yeah, I guess a scalper has been identified! Watch out, residents in the Warren/Niles/Boardman area, he's out for blood. Literally the accused scalper almost got into a heated argument/fist fight over a toy...

Most of TRU employees either don't know or don't care to bother looking and will say anything just to dismiss the customer.
I find hard to believe a retailer with 1,640 locations don't have a f-ing inventory system that can accurately locate a product.

The apathy and disregard for people's time is repugnant to me. Nobody from TRU gives a shit about the customer .

No wonder those guys are always in the verge of bankruptcy.

 

Hopefully we actually get ours.  

 

I called TRU to combine shipping and apply my 15% to acid storm.
The lady I spoke to was really nice. She said the Soundwave I got this morning at 5 A.m. is already processed and waiting for a UPS label, so they can't put them together.

So then I asked if she could apply the 15% to acid storm and she created a refund request that she will follow up with me about. I told her that's more that fine with me as long as it doesn't delay my order! haha.

I asked if she was getting a lot of calls on these items and she said "a lot".

I thanked her for her time and I told her I appreciated her help.

Overall, staying up all night paid off. haha

 

The only thing a successful boycott would do is kill the Masterpiece line in the US.

"The accused scalper"...makes it sound like you fingered a wanted felon. I remember walking into a TRU last year and they had DOZENS of cases of Masterpiece Prime. No one cared. I ended up buying 4 of them. Guess it's good I wasn't in your store or I might have been attacked in the parking lot.

 

I would never buy anything from TRU if I could help it. It is too bad this is an exclusive and you have no choice but there or scalpers. My last purchase from TRU was MP prime for the same reason.
