I think the problem is that this guy came out in a line that has everyone else in new reimagined bodies so he's kinda the odd man out.

Thank god he actualy looks like Whirl instead of the bayformers chicken monster from the IDW yaoi slash fanfiction.

Looks really good to me. Though I'll pass on it, as I'm not that big of a Whirl fan. Though I'd like to see how they choose to repaint this mold in the future. It still looks like a buy-worthy mold.

    Sensible comments.

Oh and anyone wondering if Botcon are swearing and wishing they'd made Machine Wars Sandstorm next year now ? Oh and simple head swap and you'd have something quite close to Rotorstorm too... without even needing to paint it.

He looks really good. A definite buy for me since I've some very hazy memories of having the G1 version as a kid.

this post just made my goddamned day. I fully agree with everything it said, but that does not ruin my love for the MTME comic, or the Whirl design therin.

also, really digging the Geewunny Whirl. hopefully we'll get a proper Roadbuster to match? maybe a Broadside? come on hasbro drop some awesome on us this week

    Three hundred percent adequate!

Personally I prefer me some Geewunny Whirl. (with less stick-figure-ism, which they have done.)

Wonder what any planned redecos/re-heads might be?

that's a lot of words just to say:

Slight disappointment after he was said to be based on the Chaos Theory desgin, but whatever Whirl is cool.

Errr... Because people collecting Generations are not all the same people who collect Masterpiece, and unlike some very vocal boardmembers might not all require slavish G1 updates?

Oh, and the fact that most people's affection for Whirl only started last year, when he started being used in a comic, in which he had a different design.

The thing is: this Whirl is just too much like the original toy. Like I said, personally he's good enough for me, but just compare this toy to his G1 toy AND current Generations Voyagers. It's quite apparent that, unless there's additional transformations that allow for a different look, he's pretty much the G1 brick witg more articulation - even the claw hand look terribly uncreative and outdated, already.

I'm sure most people would gladly settle for a Whirl that's not accurate to his MTMTE look, but at least doesn't look so extremely simple/bricky/bland.
Then again, I'm also sure many people will warm up to him once we get properly transformed, properly posed pictures of him. :)

Hey I'm struggling to catch up here I only just found out IDW think Whirl is gay... Do they need to give me so much easy ammunition to shoot them with.... Now if it was Perceptor I'd totally understand that... but he's some sniper block now (these people are just strange it's not even an insult to call it fan fic it's an accurate description) I would however say the fanfiction might actually be a bit more respectful than IDW is though. I do try to stay away from the comics as much as possible as I know they are going to do something that is going to make me face palm so hard i'd knock myself out.. oh dear they have really excelled themselves now.. right up there with Transgender Sex-Mutant Arcee.

Transformers is so educational (goes to search what 'yaoi' means) ah ..oh... er.. now why am I suddenly thinking of Knockout fangirls (laugh).

Oh and who is Whirl Boyfriend then just out of curiosity - and isn't it bad enough to have Tracks, Sunstreaker and Knockout who are such described - is someone in the midst of trying to rewrite all Transformers to represent human demographics so Beast Machines Rattrap represents the wheelchair bound Prime Shockwave, Breakdown and Ultra Magnus the physically disabled and Knockout the '10%'.. are they going to make what another 80 odd Transformers bat for the other team to bring the numbers up in line with Humanity ?

Them robbits huy - they be odd robbits and odd fleshies who writes them.

No sir, I don't like it - YouTube

However, I do need to see better, hopefully not mistransformed pics, and I think it may have the potential to be modded into something closer to his, if not current IDW design, then at least his Chaos Theory or Stormbringer design.

This. So much this. Thank you for posting it.

I honestly was boggled by the "It's too G1". It's like we get a few IDW toys and everyone is now "where's my IDW????"

I don't think I'm a big fan. I was hoping they'd go full-on IDW on this one, for one thing. For another, if transformed correctly, it's kind of a lazy transformation.

I appreciate the revival of G1 characters, but not so much the exact G1 toy aesthetic.

I've never been a big G1 fan in terms of toys other than a small handful, so this doesn't appeal to me. Kind of disappointed, I was expecting a reimagining along the same lines as Blitzwing, but instead I get this. Oh well. I can save my money for Doubledealer or Rhinox instead.

I know that you have a massive hate-boner for IDW and everyone who works on them or even likes them and that you like to pull stuff right out of your arse and give irrational, illogical and completly and idiotic arguments as to why they are somehow "bad"...

But Whirl isn't gay and I have no idea from where you pulled that out. If anything the "gay" ones are Chromedome and Rewind.

"Fanfiction" that Hasbro was involved in, sure. And no, you can sleep easy knowing Whirl is not like Knockout.

But man, it's just 2 or 4 characters getting involved and now it's slashfiction. Transformers fans are really really easy to offend.
