No matter what they had him say, a portion of the fanbase was going to blow a gasket so I can't think of any way they could've kept everybody happy. I'm just happy to finally hear his voice.

Although I was hoping they'd have him say something else, I thought it fit with the situation. Was better than him randomly spurting out some lines just so they could say he spoke. At least when he spoke, it was his "last words" being used to diss the Autobots.

Aside from being so tired, overused, predictable and lazy, the line makes him sound like a simpleton and honestly is almost insulting in it's lame-ass attempt to appease fans. What's more distressing it that it worked and sure enough, people are eating up what is probably the stupidest thing this show has done.

 

Pretty much this. I was expecting something different but still it was nice to hear him talk at last. Besides it's not like he keeps saying that every time he's on the screen. He said it in a situation that made sense.

Though I'm happy he talked, I didn't like how he did it. It was a taunt, and one not in Soundwave's nature. Soundwave is cold and calculating, he kicks your ass and moves on, he doesn't throw in a quippy G1 one-liner to appease the fans, plain and simple.

If he had said something different, maybe something along the lines of "You have no power over me." Or "Information: Deleted." then it would have been kick-ass, but this was just disapointing.

seriously, it was the most ANTI-CLIMATIC THING EVER, seriously, they have built up soundwave talking for 3 seasons, and he finally does, and its the stupid g1 voice with the g1 line. it was HORRIBLE. he should of said something so dark and twisted that it sent shivers down your spine. he should of had a demented, twisted, bone-chilling voice and they went and wasted all that potential, WHICH THIS SHOW LOVES TO DO

and the fans of transformers prime are just praising it....I've never seen a group of people more forgiving of poor writing than when it came to this show

transformers prime is easily the worst transformers series, because all it does is let us down, no matter what good it does, it waste any potential and makes me lose hope in the series

 

Hang on now not all Prime fans love every little thing that show does at all. Most aren't forgivng at the writing at all and I know some that aren't.

 

Best part: The Butthurt in these forums ! People like guard convoy should just leave, if you "FRIKIN HAET!!!" this show, it's best to leave, for yourself, and for others.

 

Wow, you don't have to be so harsh. It was just one line of sucky dialogue. Yeah it could have been better, but it isn't the worse. Better than the stuff from Energon.

 

I liked that he talked, I like the line, it's good for Soundwave.


However, this is not the normal Soundwave, for the first time, we have a unique character take on him and this voice, quote and scenario did not do this new take any justice. This tasteless but nostalgic quote, just reduced him to as others stated a simpleton, at least make him have a lighter, less-vocoding voice, something more eloquent would of sufficed. Because that voice on that design is like hearing Gilbert Godfreid voicing Duke Nukem, it doesn't work.

Also, yes, for 3 seasons of suspense, we get the most anti-climatic scene ever.

But, he spoke and that's something.

 

I was okay with it, but I liked the mimicking and smiley face more.

Would have been cooler with his screen popped up a clip of Strong Bad shouting:

"DELETED!"

 

Eh, I would have preferred his first line of dialogue to be a duet between him and the fans singing "Why do you build me up! Buttercup baby just to let me down!"

I had no problems when he spoke up. It was obvious the writers would have Soundwave use that line; since before this episode aired. Others wanted him to talk and others didn't want him to. Now that he spoke - some believe it's the worse thing that's ever happened to the show.

There is no pleasing to either side.

Taunting the Autobots really flies in the face of this character that has, so far, been all about practicality and being an efficient, calculating warrior. Bad guys taunting is what the weaklings do when they're losing, not what serious badasses do. It makes him seem like a punk, not the dude who has, on multiple occasions, faced down charging enemies only to effortlessly dispatch them before carrying on his business like the proffessional he is.

Plus really, to anyone outside the know, having a character who's been totally silent talking period constitutes a break in continuity when it's so arbitrary. Worse is that he's surrounded by characters who don't interact with him on a regular basis and some who've never even interacted with him at all. Soundwave should've talked before a Decepticon like Starscream or Megatron, not people who have no connection that we, the viewer, recognise. That's like a monk who takes a holly vow of silence breaking it in front of complete strangers who don't know him.

But really that's the problem, Soundwave has no established relationships that would make this scene have any kind of weight, since Megatron and him are best buds and no one else really even knows him besides Starscream who'd likely just overreact like an idiot if Soundwave talked. He's only ever fought Wheeljack hand-to-hand and I don't think even ever met Bulkhead. In fact I think this episode has had his name said more times by Autobots than in the nearly three seasons so far.

You could've easily pleased most by just not having him talk. Plenty of people were content with him being silent and imposing instead of just another pointless reference.

 

No, NO, if we do that, we will never return to harmony, the sheer force and madness that unified hatred would create would be disastrous.


Soundwave spoke, it was his last words before he died, he did it as quickly as possible, it's over with and done.

Though, I wished the Autobots and him had this sort of interaction.

That's really, really sad if that's the best thing you can say about the scene.

Even TFWiki takes the piss out of the scene calling it "a little-known line from an obscure film."
