Hold one in your hands and view it in the flesh before making that decision, would be my advice. They are breathtaking in person. All the best Maz
Maz is spot on in this regard... you could hold a masterpiece Sideswipe in one hand and a GT-01 Prime in the other and tell instantly which was better quality and made of sterner stuff. Both are great toys with great engineering but the GT series is simply more solid and, in my opinion, looks much nicer. But then the GT series aren't constrained by having to look like an 80's cartoon Personally, I love them both. I am looking forward to MP-20 and 21 as well as GT-03 and 04.
Oh look its Diaper-us Maximus, cause he does look like he's wearing a big diaper full of "well you get the idea".
I think the newer MPs were designed with lighter materials specifically with playability and ease of transformation in mind. As much as I like the Alternity line, the things are more display pieces than toy, and posing them can be a pain what with fiddly kibble and heavy diecast/balancing issues (and I broke a piece off my Fairlady Megatron's taillight, and the Questor mold is particularly frustrating with its overly tight/floppy joints and parts that just pop off too easily). The renewed MP line strikes a perfect balance between playability and looking damn awesome as display pieces. Looking at the original GT-R Convoy mold, I've found no screws exposed on the head and I'm assuming these won't have them either, making head swaps pretty much impossible without destroying the head. Drats.
I have GTR Prime,i am actually holding it on my left hand, comparing it to the original Alternity Red Convoy on my right hand,it is the same mold except there are more sponsor stickers, with body kits for the car mode on the GTR Prime, i still can't believe there is such a price difference between these two, that is why i mentioned the price does not justify, cheers.
Ahaha, had never heard of Kondo racing and now I found out it is Masahiko Kondo's company. Never knew the man was still around. More on topic, he does look nice, and I admit the race queen fig is cute...but pass. I tend to get fixated on a favourite mould, but even so I need to stop somewhere.
I don't know about these but it was simple enough to take the head off the Alternity Ultra Magnus figure and stick Classics Jazz's head on for a perfect Alternity Jazz. Alas the head was just the wrong shape for transformation but as a display piece... Perfect.
This is a homage to Grand Maximus I'm almost positive that this is a homage to Grand Maximus from Super God Masterforce which had the color green on him. He was also referred to as Maximus in the anime as well.
I believe so since it has the more green deco of the Grand Maximus than more blue deco of Fortress Maximus.
Will probably buy this one. Just got the Optimus one yesterday. The race queen for this one looks like Maeda Atsuko.
