Yeah, I'd like to know the deal about cover B as well. I don't think this is a first a non-official product gets drawn into a comic (although no examples come to mind right now), but it's weird that somebody would apparently choose to reference those figures.

I guess it's one of the better-looking, G1-inspired Gears that pops up on Google Images :)  but it's funny nontheless.

17-21 are the 'Remain in Light' arc issues of MTMTE. ;)

This issue has left me completely baffled, and infuriated I have to wait a month for answers.

At first I was all excited to meet Tyrest, now I wonder just what the hell is going on. If he's being controlled, it can't be Bombshell since he's offline now. And if this is to tie-in with Dark Cybertron, does Shockwave, the DJD or the Scavengers have anything to do with this?

And, as others have said, this is easily the best incarnation of Hot Rod/Rodimus ever. I actually love the guy in this.

The lack of "Dark Cybertron" dress on the covers would imply this is nothing to do with Dark Cybertron, it was my assumption that MTMTE gets in on that post #21

If someone were to be dead as hinted, there is only one person we know of currently with the knowledge and ability to do it.

Or controlled..... but something tells me there is more going on here than is let on.

I like Pharma's sense of humour. And now I can imagine, why Lockdown has called him "mad".

That would be the most awesome thing that has been done with the Quints in, well ever. Personally I'd love to see it, but the Quints don't get a lot of love.

I think the most telling panel in this book is when Tyrest is talking to Rodimus, for a split second he seems to be listening to someone else. Also there are all the "bullet holes" including the one right in his forehead.

Yeah, I'm more with Wattro on this one. The touching of the forehead hole, in my opinion, seemed more like someone squeezing the bridge of their nose in frustration/facepalming. But knowing this comic, it's just as likely that there's a tiny worm inside that hole that acts as his counsel.

    hmm speculation -

    Tyrest triggers the Aequitas machine.

The Aequitas machine judges the whole Cybertronian race as guilty (of being warlike, chaotic, destructive creatures inherently) - but only tyrest knows about it?

Tyrest takes it to heart, becomes an agent of hyper order (like the type that thinks that he needs to kill all cybertronians to prevent the chaos they cause -> order = universal stasis = kill everything that causes chaos?)

IDK though- surely it would take more than 25 years to accumulate a titan graveyard? Bludgeon has been leading a titan hunting squad since spotlight thundercracker (which at the very least had to happen before infiltration and after autocracy/montrosity)

So- is tyrest working with Jhiaxus cause the dead universe is kind of like stasis (order) embodied (and therein they found a common philosophical ground)?

or is Jhiaxus controlling Tyrest somehow?

hmmmm - all my questions lead to more questions - DAMN YOU ROBERTS!

Feel free to shoot this down:

Could Tyrest be an upgraded Quintesson? It almost looks like he's pushing on the hole which allows one of the other (hidden) faces to speak. That would also tie into his need for justice (while being a mockery of it). Just something about his design seems inline with a upgraded bi-pedal Quintesson.

Or the holes are from a brain bullet, or the I/D chips they used to detonate Overlord in LSoTW.

Plus there's the whole "Rodimus being held in contempt of the court thing" which I think I definitely a call back to the quintesson court scene from tftm

So much going on, so much being said...

This issue was good, but also kind of disappointing. Usually, it takes a good 30-40 minutes for me to drink in an issue of MTMTE, but this one pretty much screamed by. I chuckled a the jokes, puzzled over the revelations, etc... but it mostly feels like a pause before the big reveals. The whole thing is a tease, with a few one-liners thrown in. Chalk it up to the perils of serial storytelling... sooner or later, you're going to have to leave people hanging. :)

I will say this though... unless it becomes very important later, the Minimus/Dominus Ambus tease is a super-cheap bit of misdirection between this issue and the last one. Dammit Roberts! :p

That writing has been on the wall for a long time now, but I agree that in this issue, there definitely seemed to be some kind of extra foreshadowing with Rung. His little Sherlock moment was one thing, but it feels like he knows even more than he's letting on.

The fact that Rung is apparently at least as old as Tailgate (and possibly Tyrest, Nova and that whole crew) raises some flags. It seems like the further back you chart your Cybertronians, the more powerful (and unbalanced) they turn out to be.

    90% secret compartments, indeed.

I think that needs to be his new motto.

Yeah, more questions there, for sure.

I believe that falls under the rubric of "turnabout is fair play". :lol

I agree... I am a bit concerned about that. Anticipation is all about potential, and if that potential isn't met, there's a crash after the rush. After all, look at what happened in RID (which I consider to be a long-term total implosion). Anyway, I'm still along for the ride... after all, unlike RID, getting there has been immensely satisfying at the very least.

A couple of people have actually put forth that theory... easy to see how there could be a connection between them, even if it's not as direct as that.
