Thanks! Soundwave fighting Shockwave was just so... disturbing to me that I felt compelled to register. I want to add my voice to the multitudes of people that want to see more of the early G1 characters that we loved as children get more panel time. I would rather watch women eating live Bullfrog sashimi videos all day every day than read about relative unknowns like Swerve or Whirl in the IDW comics.

    Matryoshka pretender!

Come on Hasbro, you know you want to!

This is the other part of the alien logic that TF fans have that I will never ever understand.

We all became Transformers fans because all of the now popular character were once brand new and unique and different. Ever character had a unique design, and character, and voice and they were all fun to watch and read about. The modern day fan-favourites were as new to us then as these characters are new to us now.

So why is it now that the fans are unable to attach to a character for the exact same reasons as when they were kids? It's not like IDW is FORCING YOU do read about them when you have RID going on at the same time which consist of nothing but fanfavourite characters.

I just don't get it. A good written character is a good written character. The fact that he's a Z lister doesn't mean he can never be a good character.

Are people really that emotinaly jaded that they can only ever care about the characters they saw as kids? And that all they can ever watch and read are the exact same stories as the ones when they were kids?

If so why be a Transformers fan at all? Just get the G1 DVDs and the Marvel reprints and enjoy those if you're unable to comprehend that the franchise evolved in the span of 30 years, and just re-live those two years you hold so dear over and over again because nothing will ever be like that ever again. Nothing new that comes out won't be able to create the same sence of notalgia as the original thing so why bother if you're only in for the nostalgia factor! Time is moving forward, roll with it or don't.

Resurecting unknown characters from ages ago isn't anything new in comics. It's been going on for years.

Hell look at what Snyder did with fucking OWLMAN! He made the best goddamn Batman arc in ages.

And no nothing in this universe will ever convince me that you're not 1984forever or his clone.

What's disturbing about that specifically? The Decepticons spent the '80s at each others' throats. Megatron vs. Shockwave, Galvatron vs. Megatron, Shockwave vs. Scorponok, Ratbat vs. Scorponok, Starscream vs. everyone...

    Like Soundwave and Shockwave?

Sounds like MtMtE isn't your thing. Which is fine. But many of us love it, so just be aware. You wouldn't go to a sci-fi board and yell "FIREFLY WAS A PILE OF MONKEY CRAP," the resulting flames would crisp you at your computer.

LOL! Had to grab the Yggdrasil sinus reliever after that comment left me snotty and in tears. We had dual Targetmasters, so Two-headed Headmasters and Matryoshka Pretenders were probably in the pipeline before the stink created by the Action Masters killed G1.

Wow, that Marvel cover... awesome. Buster and Jesse! Haven't seen them in a while. :)

And MTMTE21 seems awesome. Methinks Whirl has gone through the Smelting Pool!

RID is 'ptah' as usual. Since when did Shockwave and Soundwave even HAVE a rivaly? They worked together rather well in Maximum Dinobots, and anywhere else before.

    Monstrosity's cover makes me laugh.

Actually, there WERE Matryoshka Pretenders. They were called Mega Pretenders - Roadblock and Skyhammer were the only two made. :)

I donĀ“t recall poorly written characters making Transformers awesome in the first place.

Well the last we saw of Shockwave he had some sort of sun thing destroying Cybertron under his control.

Soundwave isn't his "rival" but he probably wants to live.

Your loss... I mean, really, it is.

See, for me, the appeal of Transformers has always been the concept, the setting, and the broad variety of diverse characters interacting. In fact, going back to the cartoon, that's what made Season 2 great... there were tons of "spotlight" episodes that focused on relative nobodies, transforming them into somebodies.

And with MTMTE, with its cast of largely B-listers, is the first Transformers comic I've ever read not just for the sake of nostalgia, but actually because it's excellent. And that's awesome. For a change, I'm not trying to spark some dead ember of childhood love remembered in my heart, resurrecting it as some hollow, desperate after-image. Instead, I'm actually enjoying it for what it is, here and now, because it's great.

So yeah... you stick to RID and the dozen G1 characters that you think are important. Maybe for old time's sake, Megatron will cook up a harebrained scheme to convert an ancient and unstable artifact into a power source to conquer the universe, only to be foiled at the end by some Autobot gumption, and some incidental human sidekicks, and it can all be resolved inside of 22 minutes. Knock yourself out. :p

I honestly think Soundwave is loyal to the Decepticon cause and that is his reason to fight Shockwave. In Rid #16 Shockwave said he join the Decepticons because it was logical for him to do so in order continue his research. Shockwave never stated he supported Decepticon cause spark whole hearted. So if the primary reason for him being a Con which is research deviates from the cause of the Decepticons so will Shockwave. It also reasonable that Soundwave will fight him.

Roberts must love 1984 the book certain elements to his story. Yeah we have big brother out there too.
