You hit the nail on the head! Shortly after MP-09, I sold my entire classics collection with no regret whatsoever. These days, I honestly wonder what in fuck's name possessed me to ever get into them in the first place, they're hideous. They are and will always be a poor man's G1, their only redeeming quality is that their easier to find and cheaper than G1 or Masterpieces!

Nope. I collect Classics because that they look different than G1 figures. I like that Classics are modernized takes on the characters, whereas Masterpiece are pure G1 interpretations.

I'm a G1 fan but in my adult collector life I've NEVER been a stickler for strict G1 interpretations. I appreciate a modernized look that invokes the feel of G1, and for me at least Classics does just that.

This. I can appreciate every line for what it is. I kind of like how Classics isn't slavish, and also kinda nifty how the WFC/FOC line is almost a prequel to my Classics toys. If anything was killed by MP it'd be my interest in Alternators/Binaltech.

    Almost Completely.
I have a collection focused on the crews of the ark and the nemesis. I am upgrading most of them to MP's. I will probably stick with a few classics, like Silverstreak, because a) I don't really care about the character b) I am getting an MP Prowl and don't want to waste money on a duplicate mold c) I just need a decent representation of the character, not a perfect one. Also, I will hang on to some of the classics that are unlikely to get a MP anytime soon, like jazz, bumblebee, and windcharger. I HATE every classics decepticon, except cyclonus.
I have the classics coneheads and constantly look upon them with loathing. I NEED the coneheads, but cannot afford the igear ones and I am holding out distant hope for MP ones (BTW, why the hell is MP Acidstorm a thing? Who cares?).

Nope because I never valued Classics like Masterpieces to begin with. Masterpiece has made me much less excited, though.

    This

    plus
I despite having Mp 1 as a kid I never liked Masterpiece,
I prefer to have the army where everyones focused on not just a giant version of one person when if you included generations
we probilly have almost over 100 guys to put in that universe as apposed to 13

Nah, I collect what I like, G1, MP and Classics/Generations are generally the lines I get.

Bingo, you put it perfect. If it wasnt for Classics I doubt I would have ever gotten back into Transformers. Never did like any of the Armada or Energon stuff. I like Mps too, but Classics are my favorites, toys, thats what this all comes down too, toys from our childhoods is why we are all here as members. Thats what kills me, how far some of these guys take it in the forums, Herc or Giant for example. Good thing we are not all out on the playground, teeth would be flying.

I like how Masterpiece releases have drove down prices on Classics figures that I've missed.

Not really, as I collect both lines. I don't treat one as a substitute for the other since they're vastly different, but I have to admit that seeing MP Grimlock on a Classics shelf is always cool. He really does display well with certain figures from that line.

    Wow, just occured to me.
The only thing that keeps me interested in classics is 3Ps.
I can mix 3P guys with my classics collection otherwise it would be MP all the way.

    Quite the opposite.

I have never been less interested in Masterpiece than I am now. I may get Soundwave if I get the chance, but other than that, no.
