Both the Autobots and the Decepticons has gained a member in their ranks, Ultra Magnus and Shockwave. Although Shockwave's main area of expertise is science, he has proven himself quite capable in combat as he was able to take on both Wheeljack and Bulkhead, two of Autobots' top fighters at the same time.

What are Ultra Magnus's chances against Shockwave in a battle?

 

It's a pretty even fight, I'd say; Ultra Magnus' superior size would give him additional reach and power to match Shockwave's durability. But then, Shockwave has the better projectile weapon, which can turn the tide in his favour.

Way I see it, a ranged fight will see Shockwave as the victor, while a melee fight would most likely end with Magnus as the winner.

 

I'd say Ultra Magnus. I assume he's just as technologically advanced as Optimus and Megatron caught him by surprise when they fought. If he knew he was going to fight Shockwave, he'd bring a weapon that could bring down Shockwave and he probably does have one. Shockwave is a planner too but if he didn't know Ultra Magnus was on earth, UM could definitely use the element of surprise to take him down.

 

I would like to see a fight between Shockwave and Megatron

 

Speaking of Shockwave's strength, I want to see Cliffjumper VS Megatron in a flashback. He took down Shockwave like it was nothing, in Out of the Past. He must be one of the best warriors the Autobots had.

I would definitely watch an episode just to see Mega-Mad get his ass handed to him by an Autobot a fraction his size. 

 

It starts out with Magnus having the upper hand, then he either wears himself out or gets caught off guard before Shockwave snatches away the momentum. Shockwave has always struck me as a rope-a-dope fighter.

 

Its a tough call but I'll go with Shocks

I have to give it to Shockwave better projectile weapon, dangerous melee weapon and more intelligent than Ultra Magnus looks like he takes it to me

 

He took down shockwave then, but in the opener gets pretty much killed by a group of vehicons. Vehicons.

 

Well to be fair in that instance he did get knocked about from that energon explosion. Can't imagine he'd be in the best of shape after being smack dab in the middle of that.

Since Magnus has the hammer now it could go either way. Shockwave has proven he's incredibly strong, slow, but still quite the powerhouse. He does have quite the endurance as shown in the last episode. Couple that with his cannon arm and in a normal fight I'd give him the favor. Throwing in the forge and things get a bit more interesting. Can't really say who'd win then.

 

I want to say Magnus. He went toe to toe with Megs, even though he lost. Along with that, the forge gives him something to throw all that weight and size into. It knocked the Predaking for a loop in the last episode, even if it was only temporary.

 

Wait, really? I thought Shockwave was winning until Arcee dumped a bridge on him. Huh, I'll need to rewatch that!  

 

I wonder if Ultra Magnus could use the hammer like a bat and slam Shockwave's beam back at him or deflect it somehow. That could change the fighting scene.

 

All Cliff did was dodge his blow then trip him but shockwave still was a powerhouse and just shoved the two away.

 

I'd go with Shockwave.

 

When I started the thread, I didn't actually count on seeing Shockwave and Ultra Magnus to fight, it's funny they did in the last episode, and even funnier when Shockwave called Ultra Magnus a "one-handed Autobot." Which is a little ironic considering he is a "one-handed Decepticon," and that puts them on a equal footing. And from what we saw, it seems Ultra Magnus proved to be superior in combat.

 

True, but you could say that Shockwave was fighting to distract UM rather than win.

 

What I want to know is if their little adventures in Rage of the Dinobots is acknowledged at all. Anything that indicates they've met in combat before like a throw away line referencing RotD
