I don't believe they'd mass release a toy with a part molded in plastic from a mold that's meant to use die cast.

I picked up Generations Blitzwing yesterday. Unfortunately no Springers in sight. Guess I'll stalk Amazon for him.

 

Score! Took advantage of Robotkingdom's restock, and even shipped internationally was still cheaper than the base price on BBTS, good stuff!

 

What was done is that they made a new set of tooling for those parts.

With something being mass produced, they can't just put plastic in a die-cast part tooling or die-cast in a plastic part tooling.

So to mass produce G1 Optimus Prime with a clear chest, they'd need to make a new tooling of that part. I'm not sure that's worth it for what would most likely be a limited run exclusive.

So, what are those clear OPs you posted? Prototypes? Test shots? Lunchtime specials? or Knockoffs?

Was Red Alert packaged in Alt mode? If so, I think I'll cancel my BBTS pre-order, since theirs use the Robot mode packaging.

 

Was that a running change in the packaging?
