The 3rd Annual Best Comics of the Year is approaching, time to nominate your choices for 2006!

    The Rules:
    1. Nomination period will run from December 8th, 2006 to December 29th, 2006.
    2. Please select no more than 5 story arcs.
    3. Please include the title of the story arc.
    4. When nominating, remember that the story must have concluded during 2006.
    5. If you change your mind during the nomination period (after rereading the stories or someone nominates one you've forgotten about), please repost your top 5 story arcs. If you post multiple top fives, I will only count the last one.
    6. Once the nomination period ends, the five most popular arcs will be voted on for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

Here are some options. Feel free to nominate others and one shots are acceptable as well.

    Astonishing X-Men: Torn
    Captain Atom: Armaggeddon

    Lets see...

    1. Marvel Zombies....I think this was one of the most fun and imaginative stories I have ever read.

    2. Spider-Man The Other...Not very often that we get a truly unique Spiderman story

    3. Planet Hulk: Exile...The start of one of the best Hulk stories I've ever read

    4. Exiles: World Tour....Spidey 2099, Hulk 2099 vs The Maestro...Great story!

    5. I really can't think of a 5 yet.....

Oh, and Infinite Crisis was shit. I've never read such a boring pile of crap in my life. And it didn't seem to do anything good for DC at all.

    Ebay:
    Daredevil: The Murdock Papers
Iron Man: Extremis (does this count? I mean, it started in 2004 or whatever..)
    All-Star Superman
Amazing Spider-Man: All Civil War related issues

The big problem is that a LOT of the best comics of 2006 are titles that carryover into 2007 (Civil War, 52, etc).

    Invincible.

    Hi!

Also, Nextwave. And if you disagree with Nextwave I seriously put in to doubt your comic credentials as well as those of a human being.

    In no particular order:

    - Infinite Crisis - Not high art by any stretch, but had a lot of fun moments and is far, far better than that "Civil War" garbage Marvel is running.
    - Marvel Zombies - Fun story, great art and some of the best covers released ever. Honestly surprised this came out so well, given how bad the introductory UFF arc was.
    - TF Infiltration - I liked the unique ideas presented and it was a great set-up for the further development of the IDW TF universe.

Need to think about this a bit more to come up with another two choices...

    1. Planet Hulk - totally made the Hulk fresh again and I can't wait for mean green to return to earth.

    2. Ultimates 2...er, can I include this in? Sure it was delayed quite often but I enjoyed the storyline...

I'm leaving Marvel Zombies out...its kinda gross! :D

    Invincible
    Walking Dead
    Fables
    Nextwave

That's about all I read and I think they're all keen enough to be considered the best comics out there.

I start by agreeing. IC was great. Far better than any similar huge event Marvel has tried to pull off in recent years (except maybe Annihilation, which I'm not reading and thus cannot judge).

Right off the bat, this list needs more X-Factor. One of the most enjoyable titles out there now. I'll also second all nominations for Nextwave. And, because I love it, I also nominate DC's Blue Beetle title. It's a highly enjoyable and refreshing take on the teenage superhero. The recent Manhunter/Cyborg Superman arc of Green Lantern was also fantastic.

And Astonishing X-Men has no place on a list of the year's best. the art is pretty, but the pacing is atrocious and the writing, while no longer stampeding downhill, has settled at a level far below the outstanding first arc. If any X-Men book deserves a place on this list, I'd nominate the Supernovas arc that just finished in X-Men, which featured much better writing, even if it was occasionally hampered by Bachalo's clarity-inhibiting excessive detail.

The Other was last year and carried into this year. But 3/4 of it was October-December.

    For me
    - Iron Man: Execute Program
    - Marvel Zombies
    - Detective Comics since Dini started writing. It's all stand alone issues and all great.
    - Ultimates Grand Theft America
    - Planet Hulk

    Invincible
    Marvel Zombies
    Walking Dead
    Beast Wars The Gathering
    Ultimate Spider-Man (The clone saga.)

Worst Comic of 2006? I have to say infinite crisis. the fact that I had to read like 8 other books to get a complete understanding of what was happening in this crappy mini drove me up the wall. Plus that fact that they killed off so many great characters was also a kick in the face.. I will say this. the four minis leading into infinite crisis were damn good, and 52 has been damn good since, but the actual Infinite crisis mini blew dead bear.
I think it speaks volumes of how crappy it was that they changed so much dialogue when they released the graphic novel. (Of infinite crapiness I mean.)
