like 10-20 years in the future, how hard will it be to find figures from like the past 5 years we'll say with all the people who collect now days?

Same goes for like G1 to beast wars and etc. how hard will they be to find?

This needs to be in the transformer toys discussion section, not the news.

Vintage transformers from the 80's and in perfect condition will be STILL the most difficult to get, IMHO.

Yeah. At the rate of people constantly buying/selling Classics (and even BW-UT), these figures won't be THAT hard to find, honestly. G1s will be the only figures to retain actual value (especially if they're in great-flawless-MISB condition). And that's coming from someone who doesn't collect G1 (primarily). I won't ever be worried about the "limited" availability of anything released from 1996-present. (In the US at least).
As for Classics figures specifically.... If these IDW designs prove to be a big hit and something Hasbro wants to do long-term and starts redoing the previously released Classics characters, I see the Classics figures from 06-present losing value.. Easily.

If the masterpiece line continues and there is not a major reboot I can see that line going up in value. Everything else that is mainstream will be pretty cheap.

I didn't know you could "unass" something. Is it possible to "reass" things as well? :lol

Vintage G1 is going to be even more expensive, since most will be suffering from photo-degradation at that point.

At some time in the future, G1 prices will fall. When? I'm not sure - perhaps when all of us who grew up with the G1 cartoon start to retire? Think about it. Our parents had those metal wind up toys that you see people buying like crazy on shows like "Pawn Stars" and "American Pickers". I always get a kick out of that - those things are gonna be worthless very soon. However, when our parents die, who is gonna want them? My parents are retired now and are starting to get rid of all the "clutter" in their house. They are giving away things left and right. Would you have any interest in your parent's toys? I wouldn't. There is no nostalgia in it for me. I think they same thing will happen with G1 toys eventually.

Of course, I could be wrong.

True, but if you consider that the show started in '84 and was still being shown up until Beast Wars started in '96, collectors can be younger then 30 now. There's still 30-40 good years worth in there.

What about Encore and 3rd party releases? Has that dropped the value of G1?

Collecting in the future? I'll be complaining about the price of dilithium crystals when taking my flying car to Toyz R Us to get Masterpiece G2 Breakdownrobot, only to be beat by out some scummy space-scalper. Stupid Rodians.
