<- Iron Man the Austin Powers years ?

Cute - but a bit odd

    ----------------------------------

I liked Star Trek Into Darkness more than Iron Man 3 too - that does not mean I dislike Iron Man 3 however.

I'm not sure about the new Superman Movie it looks like it's a bit up-itself.. I'll have to wait and see - I'll cut it a lot of slack so long as it's less sucky than the last one.

I loved the end credits because it was a lot like an intro to a 1970s or 1980s Iron Man TV show.

This was disappointing. I walked into the movie with no expectations whatsoever and found myself yawning in some of the scenes. The reveal of the Mandarin was comical to say the least and was a twist I wasn't expecting. Everything went downhill after that for me.

The first two were much better imo.

No lie, that has been my ringtone since this movie came out. Such a great track, and an overall great score also.

Loved that music. :D  Good mix of light rock and some retro spy theme. Again, would've preferred AC/DC, but hey, that ship has sailed.

Not sure about the montage, but the very last line of dialogue in the movie kind of sent the opposite message to me. With RDJ looking dead in the camera and saying "I am Iron Man," it was like he was saying "no one else could ever play this role but me."

As for the movie, which I just saw last night, here's my thoughts (SPOILERS BELOW):

Definitely the best action scenes out of the Iron Man trilogy, and it's not even close. You can tell Marvel is trying to ease everyone into the whole "Phase 2 is going to get pretty comic book-y" thing with the Extremis stuff in this one.

The story was OK, it's one of those plots that really falls apart when you start thinking about it. Such as:

The Vice President turns on his country because his daughter (or whoever she was) is missing a limb? Highly unbelievable.

How did the Extremis henchmen know that Tony Stark was in Tennessee?

Tony and Rhodes just decide to storm the freighter alone? I realize Tony had a plan, but couldn't Rhodes have picked up a phone and called... anyone? He had a direct connection to the President, so I'm pretty sure he has significant pull in the military.

Then there were some things that probably could have used more explanation. Mainly the whole "why is Tony Stark having the shrapnel removed?" part at the end. I went online and read some explanations that made sense, but in the actual movie there was virtually none.

I'm not a comic book guy, so I can't really speak to references or changes in regards to the source material, but I thought the twist with the Mandarin (really, that whole scene) was kind of weird. The concept of the twist is OK, but having the guy be a stumbling drunk goofball actor was too far a shift in my opinion.

Overall, it was enjoyable. Laughed out loud at several parts. RDJ remains perfect in the role. Action was top notch. Story was serviceable.

As for the Tennessee thing, they weren't after Tony, they were after mother of the guy who blew up and the file she had. They found Tony by luck.

Finally saw it yesterday. Haven't fully decided what I think about it since I could easily split the positives & negatives 50/50. All I am sure of, though, is that I personally got VERY tired of the whole "armor attach! / armor detach! / armor attach! / armor detach!" thing that happened what seemed like a thousand different times. It reminded me of when someone finds that one special move in a video game and keep using it over & over & over again. I also wasn't a fan of the new voice over approach thing either, but thankfully the end credits bonus scene helped make sense of why it was happening.

Not sure yet if I liked it better than the first Iron Man, but I can definitely say that I like the second one best out of the three. This one WAS good in a lot of ways, but I dunno... it just didn't get me the way I anticipated.

I didn't mind it, but I do remember thinking "wow, they are really wanting to show off how he can get in and out of the suits." He did it standing up, laying down, while walking, while flying/falling, while fighting...

Research Study Finds That Comic Book Movies Are Perfect First Date Material

"A new research study has revealed that over 77% of women rated superhero movies as being their ideal first date. Over two thirds of men - 62% - agreed. the cinema chain also asked women which five superheroes they would most like to date. Iron Man came out on top, followed by respectively Thor, Wolverine, Batman and Superman."

No way can Marvel get rid of RDJ now lol...

Nice article on some of the digital effects in the movie-
    CGSociety - Iron Man 3

I thought the effects were all very good. You know the effects are good when you find out that something was done digitally and you think "Really? Wow I never would have guessed!" It's amazing how many different companies work on these big movies and still manage to coordinate everything.

I didn't know that Vice President Miguel Ferrer (the actor) that girl was his daughter. I assumed that he was planning on creating a super solider army. :lol

It sort of makes sense since Extremis was shown to heal amputees, personally I think they should have made Vice President Ferrer, a recurring antagonist secretly funding supervillian groups. I was thinking he would have been a good fit for The Winter Soldier.

There is definitely hope for me. I would love to find a girlfriend as interested in comic book movies and TV shows as I am.

That's funny. Iron Man was the first date for me and my current gf. We just celebrated 5 years together... by going to see IM3.

Well, he walks over and kisses her on the head, while whispering "Merry Christmas, honey", so it was meant to show that that's the reason behind his actions. I doubt that his character cared about an Extremis army, only that his amputee daughter might be healed. Tony/Rhodes stood in the way of his daughter's future, after all.
