G2 Laser Prime is one of the best transformers ever made. Ultra Magnus is awesome. But when eHobby gave us a Magnus redeco of Laser Prime, they took the lazy way out and just give us a white Prime head. Borrrrriiiiiing. Always boring, always bad, those silly white-Prime-head Ultra Magnuses.

After seeing that there was a headmaster Magnus (from a 3rd party company whose name I've forgotten), I knew what I had to do: Dremel the head off a $100 toy.

It still transforms well, and the head gets to ride in the trailer (in a special mounting clip I didn't bother photographing, not just loose in there like a hobo ridin' the rails).

I wish I could've matched the blue a little better, but the camera is a little harsh on this issue. It looks pretty seamless under normal light.

Comments and suggestions are welcome as always.

Love the way this looks; sometimes you just have to accept that an obscenely expensive piece of plastic must be sacrificed in the name of creativity!
By the way, having read the quote at the bottom of your postings several times, I've FINALLY remembered where it was from. Had me laughing for quite awhile!

That turned out really well! I love it! The blue paint is REALLY close--even Hasbro sometimes gets lazy matching their painted parts to their solid-color parts on a toy, so what you've done looks fine.

So, I take it that the head can't fit in the grill/abs compartment?

Oh hey my thread's back from the dead.

It just barely can't. I considered putting in the extra effort to get it to fit, but deemed it to be more trouble than it's worth. I would've ended up cutting into vital body joints (beyond my skill set), or trimming parts of the head (noooo). If he didn't come with a trailer to store the head in, I would've sucked it up and done something to make it fit, but if trailer-head-storage is good enough for G1 Magnus, it's good enough for G2 Magnus.
